Lazio vs. Udinese – Serie A, November 29, 2020
Lazio hosts Udinese at Stadio Olimpico in Rome on Sunday, November 29, as the Italian Serie A continues with Matchday 9.
The Eagles have been playing in excellent form lately and will be looking for their fourth victory in the last five Serie A games. On the other side, the Friulians will try to upset the odds and stay undefeated for the third straight contest.
Lazio vs. Udinese Odds
|Lazio to Win||-137|
|Udinese to Win||+400|
Lazio is a -137 fave for Sunday’s clash, according to BetOnline, while Udinese sits at +115 odds to earn at least a point. I’m a bit surprised with the odds here, expecting to see the Eagles around -190.
The Friulians are winless in eight straight encounters with Lazio, tallying seven defeats in that span.
Lazio vs. Udinese Preview
The Eagles are sitting at the eighth spot of the Serie A standings with 14 points and a 13:13 goal difference. After a slow start, the Eagles have won three of their previous four contests along with a 1-1 home draw against the reigning champs Juventus.
Last weekend, Lazio outlasted Crotone 2-0 on the road, as Ciro Immobile scored the opener and assisted Joaquin Correa for the second goal of the game. Immobile leads the way for the Eagles with seven goals in eight appearances in all competitions, while Correa has two goals and three assists on his tally.
The Eagles are undefeated in eight consecutive outings in all competitions, recording five wins and three draws in the process. They are coming off a 3-1 home victory over Zenit in the UEFA Champions League.
On the other side, the Friulians are laying at the 16th spot of the Serie A table with seven points and a 7:11 goal difference. They kept the net intact in the last two showings, earning a 0-0 draw at Sassuolo and beating Genoa 1-0 at home in the previous round.
Udinese played three of its first eight games away from home. The Friulians have earned just a point in those three road contests while posting a 2:4 goal difference.
Midfielder Rodrigo de Paul scored the winning goal against Genoa, proving he’s Udinese’s best player this term. Along with a pair of goals, de Paul recorded a couple of dishes, too.
Lazio vs. Udinese Pick
As I’ve mentioned, the Eagles have owned the Friulians lately, winning seven of their last eight matchups. Also, Lazio has won six straight home games against Udinese, yielding only one goal in that stretch. The Friulians have failed to find the net in four straight visits to Stadio Olimpico.
Considering their current form, I think the Eagles should beat Udinese once more. Ciro Immobile has struggled with injuries, but he’s healthy now and ready to rumble. With Immobile at the front, Lazio is a very dangerous team, so I’m betting on the hosts to win at -137 odds.
Udinese will sit back and defend, looking to score through counter-attacks. Lazio will control the ball in the middle of the park, and I expect the Eagles to create a lot of scoring opportunities which should be enough for a comfortable victory.
