LAFC vs. Seattle Sounders – MLS, October 11, 2020
We have a seriously tasty matchup to look forward to in MLS this weekend, with reigning Supporters’ Shield champion LAFC hosting defending MLS Cup champion Seattle.
The Sounders are currently leading the way in the Western Conference, with fifth-place LAFC nine points behind. Seattle has won each of their previous three games and five of their last six. On the flip side, the Los Angeles club has failed to secure back-to-back regular-season victories this year.
Brian Schmetzer’s side has already beaten LAFC twice in the past two months. Who will come out on top this time around? After looking at the odds, I share my LAFC vs. Seattle Sounders prediction and betting pick.
LAFC vs. Seattle Sounders Odds
Despite Seattle’s nine-point lead over LAFC, 10bet still views the home side as the frontrunner to win this clash. The bookies have continued to back Bob Bradley’s men this year, regardless of their inconsistent form. But I’m not so sure they deserve the favorite tag in this game.
After all, the Sounders have been far better than LAFC throughout the 2020 campaign, and the Washington club’s recent record against the Black & Gold is very good.
LAFC vs. Seattle Sounders Preview
LAFC has won three of their last six games, although the California outfit has failed to register successive victories during that period. Each win has been followed by a defeat, making it extremely difficult to predict how Bradely’s side will perform from one game to the next.
If that trend continues, LAFC is due to lose against Seattle this weekend. The Black & Gold claimed a 3-1 victory over Real Salt Lake in their previous outing, with Bradley Wright-Phillips, Diego Rossi, and Brian Rodriquez each getting on the scoresheet.
Bradely’s men have claimed big victories over Portland Timbers (4-2) and Vancouver Whitecaps (6-0) in the past month, but the team has always failed to carry their form into the next game.
LAFC remains the top scorer in the Western Conference, yet only three sides in the division have a poorer defensive record. Needless to say, the California club must improve at the back in order to move up the standings.
Seattle has been almost flawless since the MLS is Back Tournament. The Sounders have only lost two of their ten games since the regular season resumed, with two big victories (3-1 and 3-0) coming against LAFC in that time.
Schmetzer’s side has also seen off Portland Timbers, San Jose, LA Galaxy, Vancouver Whitecaps, and RSL in recent weeks. Seattle thrashed the Quakes 7-1 last month before going on to score over 2.5 goals in each of their next three wins.
The Sounders were made to work for their most recent victory. RSL pushed the conference leader all the way on Wednesday, but goals from Jordan Morris and Yeimar Gomez Andrade saw Seattle edge the Utah club 2-1.
LAFC vs. Seattle Sounders Pick
Seattle Sounders to Win3.35
The best online betting sites are usually very accurate with their MLS odds. But on this occasion, I have to go against the bookies and back Seattle to get the better of LAFC.
Ultimately, the Sounders have been on a different level to LAFC this year. The Black & Gold is likely to make life difficult for the away side, but I’m confident that Seattle will get the job done and return to Washington with all three points.
