LA Galaxy vs. Real Salt Lake – MLS, November 1, 2020
LA Galaxy will be led by interim head coach Dominic Kinnear when Real Salt Lake visits California on Sunday, November 1. Guillermo Barros Schelotto was fired after the midweek defeat to Portland Timbers, with the club sitting rock bottom of the Western Conference.
However, RSL is only four points ahead of the Galaxy. The Claret & Cobalt has managed to win just one of their last seven games and heads into Sunday’s clash on the back of a loss to San Jose Earthquakes.

LA Galaxy vs. Real Salt Lake Odds
It is difficult to predict how the Galaxy (2.10) will fare this weekend. The top online betting sites view the home side as the favorite, but the team is somewhat of an unknown quantity under Kinnear.
Real Salt Lake (3.05) beat the Galaxy 2-0 at the end of September, so the price for the away win is bound to attract plenty of attention.
LA Galaxy vs. Real Salt Lake Preview
Following a dismal run of eight defeats in nine games, Guillermo Barros Schelotto has finally been relieved of his duties as LA Galaxy head coach. Wednesday’s 5-2 thrashing to Portland proved to be the final nail in the coffin for Barros Schelotto, who leaves the club after almost two years in charge.
But the Argentine can have no complaints. The Los Angeles team has been nothing short of dreadful in recent weeks, so it was only a matter of time before a change was made.
With MLS announcing that qualification for the playoffs will be determined on a points-per-game basis, the Galaxy’s season is effectively over. Still, Kinnear will be eager for his players to give a good account of themselves in the final two games and end the campaign on a high.
Despite all the doom and gloom, Cristian Pavon netted a brace last time out, taking his tally to nine goals and three assists this term. The Boca Juniors loanee has been a bright spot in an otherwise gloomy campaign for the Galaxy.
Real Salt Lake claimed a shock 2-1 win over the Timbers a fortnight ago, but besides that, October has been a bad month for the Utah club. Defeats to LAFC, Seattle Sounders, and Vancouver Whitecaps came before the victory against Portland, with a loss to San Jose following soon after.
RSL failed to register a single shot on target against the Quakes on Wednesday. Freddy Juarez’s men enjoyed the majority of possession and created plenty of goalscoring opportunities, but they eventually lost to a Chris Wondolowski double.
The Claret & Cobalt still has an outside chance of qualifying for the playoffs, but judging by the team’s recent performances, RSL will need a minor miracle to finish in the top eight.
LA Galaxy vs. Real Salt Lake Betting Pick
LA Galaxy to Win2.10
LA Galaxy is by no means a bad side; Barros Schelotto just couldn’t seem to turn things around. With stars like Cristian Pavon, Sebastien Lletget, and Javier Hernandez in their ranks, I’m confident the Galaxy can end the season on a positive note.
More often than not, teams seem to enjoy an initial upturn in form when a new head coach takes control. Real Salt Lake has been woeful lately, so I can see the Galaxy picking up all three points on Sunday.
