The Lotte Giants are involved in their own fight, as they are trying to break into the top five and qualify for the postseason.

The Kiwoom Heroes suffered a painful extra-time loss against KT Wiz Suwon and will be eager to bounce back. The team had a strong run in August that closed the gap to the first place to only half a win at one point, but the NC Dinos are still holding at the top.

You would expect to see the Heroes as the favorites against an opponent form the bottom half of the table, but their starting pitcher can’t be trusted too much. With the likes of Jake Brigham and Hyun Hee Han injured, Kiwoom will have to rely on Young Gun Jo.

He has a 6.58 ERA and a 1.85 WHIP which certainly doesn’t look good for the Heroes. I don’t think he will stay on the field for more than three or four innings, but that might be enough for the Giants.

The Lotte Giants are leading the KBO in several pitching categories and they are the team that has conceded the least runs so far. The side has struggled on the offense, though, and needs to step up in order to qualify for the playoffs.

I’m sure that the Giants will be confident about the upcoming encounter because they are sending the better starting pitcher on the field. Kyung Eun Noh has been solid this season and his stats in August are very good, despite the low strikeout rate.

I believe that the Giants have a huge advantage in the pitching department and should be able to win game one of the series. The Heroes need some of their injured players back or they risk entering a bad streak of games.

The price of -120 for Lotte to prevail is just too good to miss and my betting pick for Thursday’s clash.
