Kiwoom Heroes vs. Kia Tigers – KBO (August 24, 2021)
From the three games on the KBO schedule for August 24, the one between the Kiwoom Heroes and the Kia Tigers has the highest chance to proceed as usual. The weather reports are favorable right now, so both sides should go out on the field.
One of them will go home disappointed, and I share my expectations in this Kiwoom Heroes vs. Kia Tigers preview. The post includes information on the starting pitchers, other stats, and my prediction for the clash.
Kiwoom Heroes Key Data and Starting Pitcher
- League Position: 5th
- Last 5 Games: 2-3
- Runs Scored: 469
- Runs Conceded: 413
- Starting Pitcher: Choi Won-tae (5-6; 3.79 ERA)
I have struggled to predict Kiwoom’s games up to this point of the KBO season. The team has been so inconsistent that you never know what to expect.
The Heroes had a strong run after the Olympics break, and it looked like they might challenge for the top spots in the standings. A few bad results against low-ranked opponents later, Kiwoom sits in the fifth position and is more likely to be involved in a close fight for a place in the playoffs.
Winnings against teams like the Kia Tigers will be crucial. The Heroes are 4-6 against one of the worst teams in the league and would be eager to improve their record on Tuesday.
Choi Won-tae is a decent pitcher that could certainly help. His individual stats are better than his 5-6 record, as a starter suggests. The youngster was let down by the bullpen and his offense more than once.
If they deliver enough support this time around, I expect another victory for the pitcher.
Kia Tigers Key Data and Starting Pitcher
- League Position: 9th
- Last 5 Games: 2-2-1
- Runs Scored: 333
- Runs Conceded: 447
- Starting Pitcher: Kim Hyeon-su (1-0; 6.35 ERA)
It’s hard to find many positives for the Kia Tigers this season. The team is around the bottom of the league both offensively and defensively.
The only bright side is the improved performance after KBO’s return at the start of August. The Tigers have been respectable in the past couple of weeks, and they have the chance to win more games against a team they already beat six times in 2021.
The problem is that Kim Hyeon-su is next in the rotation. The pitcher has been unreliable, and you can really expect wonders from the bullpen either.
I believe that the Tigers will concede plenty of runs, and I don’t think their offense is strong enough to carry Tuesday’s clash.
Kiwoom Heroes vs. Kia Tigers Prediction
You probably know where this preview is heading at this point. The Kiwoom Heroes are the better overall team, and they have the stronger starting pitcher for the upcoming game against the Kia Tigers.
The sensible prediction is to back them, and that’s what I prefer. If you intend to follow me by betting on the KBO, you shouldn’t forget that the Heroes are among the most unpredictable teams in the entire league.
- Prediction: Kiwoom Heroes to Win
