Keeneland Race Course Picks – Saturday, October 17, 2020

In addition to nine maiden, allowance, and claiming races, Keeneland brings us the Lexus Raven Run Stakes for our Saturday racing fare.

Moving on, let’s take a look at my Keeneland Race Course picks and tips for Saturday’s thoroughbred matches.

This is an allowance race for fillies and mares three years old and upward running a distance of 1-1/16 miles on turf for a purse of $71,000.

I’m sticking with the 2/1 morning line favorite in this race—Great Island, with Tyler Gaffalione in the irons. This four-year-old filly moneyed both of her career starts, winning one.

As far as long-odds value bets are concerned, ignore those two 50/1 longshots—that ain’t gonna happen. But the 20/1 Audrey’s Time, with Corey Lanerie aboard? Yeah, that could happen. This three-year-old filly moneyed three of her six starts. Show bet only.

This is an allowance race for three-year-olds and upward running a distance of 1-1/8 miles on turf for a purse of $75,000.

If the 6/1 also-eligible Spirit Animal, with Ricardo Santana, Jr. aboard, makes it into this race, then that’s who I’m backing for the win. This four-year-old colt moneyed five of his eight career starts, winning four of them.

If that doesn’t happen, then I’m backing the 2/1 morning line favorite—Dontblamerocket, with Tyler Gaffalione in the irons. This six-year-old gelding finished in the money 13 of his 19 career starts, winning seven.

At 15/1, Bizzee Channel, ridden by Gerardo Corrales, is a good bargain show ticket. This four-year-old gelding moneyed nine of his 13 career starts, winning three.

This is the Lexus Raven Run Stakes (Grade II), a race for three-year-old fillies running a distance of seven furlongs for a purse of $200,000.

Plenty of talent in this stakes race, and I’m backing the second-favored (5/2) entry–Four Graces, with Julien Leparoux aboard. This filly finished in the money five of her six career starts, winning four of them. Her most recent win was the Grade III Beaumont Stakes at Keeneland in July.

Try the 20/1 longshot Never Forget, with top jockey Rafael Bejarano aboard, for a bargain show wager. This filly moneyed five of her eight starts, winning one.
