KBO Predictions and Analysis – Wednesday, September 22 (2021)
I don’t know if it was the early starting hour or something else, but the previous round was the wildest I’ve seen in South Korean baseball ever! We witnessed multiple surprising results and a total of 94 runs across five games!
Six teams scored ten or more, and it was a complete massacre. It’s interesting to see if the trend will continue on Wednesday, and that’s what I try to figure out in my KBO predictions for September 22.
I cover the following five games, and once again, they will start around four hours earlier than usual.
- KT Wiz Suwon vs. Kia Tigers
- LG Twins vs. Hanwha Eagles
- NC Dinos vs. Doosan Bears
- Samsung Lions vs. Lotte Giants
- Kiwoom Heroes vs. SSG Landers
KT Wiz Suwon to Beat Kia Tigers
The Kia Tigers had a strong start on Tuesday and took a nice lead against KT Wiz Suwon. The league leaders responded immediately, scoring a bunch of runs to win the game by 11-5.
I believe that the favorite is in a commanding position for the next clash as well. KT Wiz is expected to use a stronger pitcher, and we already saw how good the team’s offense is right now.
Suwon is in a great spot to cement its top spot in the KBO standings, which provides more than enough motivation for the players. The Tigers will struggle to cope with the opposition, and I don’t see a scenario where they win on Wednesday.
Hanwha Eagles to Beat LG Twins
The early innings in the opening game between these two went exactly as I expected. The Twins kept the opposition scoreless up to the fourth when all hell broke loose.
It was a demolition job by the worst team in the league, and such a resounding victory would certainly boost Hanwha’s morale.
The Eagles will also rely on Ryan Carpenter, their best pitcher, while the Twins will use one of their worst starters. I believe that the underdog can strike again on Wednesday, and that’s I’m picking the Eagles in my KBO predictions for September 22.
Doosan Bears to Beat NC Dinos
I expected a win for the Bears on Tuesday, and they delivered without much of a hassle. The team’s offense looked amazing, and I’m not sure the Dinos would be able to do something about it on Wednesday either.
The reigning champions are going to send Song Myung-gi, who has a 7-7 record and a 5.67 ERA so far in 2021. On the other end, we’ll see Walker Lockett, who has been one of Doosan’s most consistent pitchers.
His record against the Dinos is great, too, so I believe backing the Bears for another win on Wednesday makes the most sense.
Lotte Giants to Beat Samsung Lions
I thought that the Giants could surprise the Lions in the previous round, and they almost did. Tuesday’s game saw 20 runs, and Samsung barely won by 11-9.
It was a clash dominated by the offensive players, and the team news for the next one suggests we might see something similar.
Still, the guy the Giants are about to use has been much stronger, so that’s enough for me to give them the edge.
It should be close, though, and Samsung’s offense could once again explode.
Kiwoom Heroes to Beat SSG Landers
Tuesday’s game between the Heroes and the Landers was absolute madness. We saw 23 runs in total and plenty of action. SSG’s offense turned out to be slightly more prolific in the end, but I don’t think that will be the case in the next encounter.
It’s Eric Jokisch’s turn in Kiwoom’s rotation, and he’s been outstanding in 2021. The guy has 13 victories already and some of the best stats in the league.
Compare that to the 2-7 record and a 7.07 ERA registered by Jo Yeong-u, who’s about to start for the Landers. It’s obvious which team should have the upper hand, and I see no other choice but to back the Heroes in this one.
