KBO Predictions and Analysis – Tuesday, October 19

The KBO regular season ends this month and you can really feel the pressure. Every game matters for the teams that are still fighting for a spot in the playoffs and there’s very little room for mistakes.

The top seven teams in the country still have a lot to play for. The leading three sides in the standings are within 2.5 games, while the next four teams are only within a couple of games.

With that in mind, I explore Tuesday’s fixtures and share my KBO predictions for October 19. Here’s a full list of the games covered.

This clash is very tricky because both teams really need to win here. KT Wiz looked in firm control of the top spot in the standings up to a few weeks ago, but the gap was cut by the chasers.

The situation of the reigning champions is even worse. The NC Dinos are currently seventh in the league and they could very well miss the postseason!

It’s obvious that both teams will be motivated to win on Tuesday and their H2H record in 2021 suggests that no side has dominated the clash.

KT Wiz has the upper hand when it comes to the starting pitchers, though. Bae Je-seong has decent stats and he won against the Dinos twice already. NC’s Wes Parsons has been alright too, but he suffered a defeat in his only game against the leaders this season.

Suwon’s offense has been slightly better too, so I see enough reasons to pick KT Wiz in my KBO predictions for October 19.

The Samsung Lions have been excellent recently and a 7-3 record in the last ten games was enough to get near KT Wiz Suwon. If the team keeps the momentum going, the first spot in the league certainly is within reach.

And yet, I think that the Lions are about to suffer a setback on their road to the top of the table. They meet a tricky opponent that’s desperately trying to qualify for the playoffs next.

Losing spots is on the cards unless Doosan’s players deliver more wins in the next ten days or so. The good news is that Ariel Miranda is about to pitch next and he’s been the team’s standout performer in that position.

He can certainly keep the opposition quiet, while I’m not so sure that Samsung’s Mike Montgomery can do the same. The American has been inconsistent in his five starts so far and that’s enough for me to back the Bears.

The Kia Tigers are among the few KBO teams with nothing to play for. And yet, the squad has a 5-5 record over the past couple of weeks and managed to beat multiple sides that are still in the hunt for better playoff positions.

I don’t think the Landers will take the upcoming game easy, though. The team has been fighting hard to stay competitive despite some injuries lately and currently sits fifth in the table.

Winning against the Tigers would be a huge step towards the postseason and that’s exactly what I expect in the upcoming clash.

I’m on the fence for this one and picking a winner looks like a tough task. You could argue that the Twins love facing this opponent and they have won nine times against it already.

On the other hand, they are starting a pitcher that has a 1-7 record, including a defeat against the Heroes that saw him concede a bunch of runs.

Since the Twins live and die by their starting pitchers, I feel obliged to go against them this time around. And yet, the Heroes have been unpredictable for most of the season, so I can see this one going either way.
