KBO Predictions for Round 144 – Saturday, October 17, 2020

| October 16, 2020 6:38 am PDT

The opening games of the latest KBO series brought several heavy defeats and the teams on the losing end will have the chance to bounce back on Saturday. I share my thoughts on the upcoming round in my KBO predictions.

I’ve included my analysis and info about the expected starting pitchers, but you won’t find odds or betting picks. That’s because the leading South Korea baseball betting sites are yet to release their lines.

With that in mind, here are all games included in my KBO predictions for Saturday.

  • KIA Tigers vs. LG Twins
  • KT Wiz Suwon vs. SK Wyverns
  • Lotte Giants vs. NC Dinos
  • Doosan Bears vs. Kiwoom Heroes
  • Samsung Lions vs Hanwha Eagles

LG Twins to Beat KIA Tigers

The LG Twins were dominant in their opening game against the KIA Tigers and that’s hardly a surprise. The team has been in much better form recently and started a stronger pitcher on Friday, so it was a one-sided affair.

There’s little reason to believe that something would change on Saturday. The Twins have all the momentum and look confident in offense, while the Tigers are struggling. The favorite will once again rely on the better pitcher, so another victory for LG makes the most sense for game two of the series.

KT Wiz Suwon to Beat SK Wyverns

I’m not sure what happened with KT Wiz Suwon in the opening game on Friday, but the team was crushed by the struggling Wyverns. SK’s offense was exceptional and it was one of the rare occasions when the pitchers were able to contain the opposition.

I’m not sure where did this come from and I don’t expect it to continue on Saturday. Suwon has the better projected starter and is a much better team in general. That’s enough for me to trust KT Wiz unless the Wyverns once again punch way above their weight.

NC Dinos to Beat Lotte Giants

The series opener on Friday was really close and it could’ve easily gone either way. In the end, it was the Dinos that struck in the last inning to secure a valuable victory. That should give the team some momentum going into the second clash, but I don’t think it will be easy either.

The team news for Saturday suggests that the Giants should start the slightly better pitcher, so the game will be close once again as well. It could easily go either way, but I prefer to trust the team that has been more consistent over the season and the Dinos have the upper hand in that regard.

Doosan Bears to Beat Kiwoom Heroes

The opening game between the Doosan Bears and the Kiwoom Heroes was largely quiet, but a wild seventh inning decided the clash. That’s when the Heroes took a 7-4 lead and never looked back for the rest of the encounter.

The Bears will have a good opportunity to bounce back on Saturday thanks to their projected starting pitcher. The reigning champions are expected to send a player with a 3.74 ERA which is much better than Kiwoom’s choice.

It could be close once again, but I prefer to trust the Bears in my KBO predictions for Saturday.

Samsung Lions to Beat Hanwha Eagles

The Samsung Lions had a confident display against the Hanwha Eagles on Friday which is not always the case when the team faces opponents from the bottom half of the table. The offense turned up big time and the starting pitcher was flawless.

Both sides will face each other again twice the next day. I only cover the early clash in my KBO predictions on Saturday and I believe we will see a similar result.

The Lions have built their confidence and they are projected to send a better pitcher once again, so the Eagles won’t have many chances to score.
