KBO Predictions for Round 142 – Thursday, October 15, 2020

| October 14, 2020 6:14 am PDT

All games from the leading South Korea baseball league on Wednesday were really close. The losing teams will have the chance to bounce back immediately in the third clash of the series on the next day.

I share my expectations if they can do that in my KBO predictions for Thursday, October 15. The post includes short analysis of each encounter but no odds or betting picks because the top baseball sportsbooks online haven’t released their lines yet.

And here are all games included in my KBO predictions.

  • Hanwha Eagles vs. Doosan Bears
  • KIA Tigers vs. NC Dinos
  • LG Twins vs. Lotte Giants
  • SK Wyverns vs. Samsung Lions
  • Kiwoom Heroes vs. KT Wiz Suwon

Hanwha Eagles to Beat Doosan Bears

After destroying the opponent in game one, the Bears struggled in the second clash and barely beat the Eagles. Hanwha’s getting closer and the team might be able to get the win the third encounter of the series on Thursday.

The starting pitchers of both sides have questionable stats overall, but Hanwha’s guy has been excellent in the past month or so and has a 2.20 ERA and a 1.16 WHIP over this period. Their opponent is expected to send a player who has been mostly part of the bullpen this season, so that’s enough for me to go for the Eagles in my KBO predictions for Thursday.

NC Dinos to Beat KIA Tigers

I expected a victory for the KBO leaders on Wednesday and they delivered rather comfortably. The Dinos looked strong both offensively and defensively. NC should be able to take game three as well because of several reasons.

The team is expected to send a pitcher with better stats and has the much stronger offense in general. On top of that, the Tigers have no chance to qualify for the playoffs and that surely affects the team’s morale right now.

LG Twins to Beat Lotte Giants

LG’s offense had a bad day in the office on Wednesday which allowed the Giants to win the second game of the series. We’ve seen this before and the good news for the Twins is that the team usually bounces back quickly.

That could very well happen on Thursday if you look at the starting pitchers. The Twins have the advantage in this aspect and their offense has often returned immediately after disappointing games like the previous one.

It should be mentioned that the Giants have nothing to play for as well, so their motivation for this clash might be somewhat questionable.

SK Wyverns to Beat Samsung Lions

This game looks like the hardest to predict on Thursday. The two teams split the opening two fixtures and they are sending comparable pitchers for the third one, both over the course of the season and based on their recent stats.

The bullpen and the offense are going to be the deciding factors here. You would normally expect the Lions to win under such circumstances, but the team has the habit of underperforming against opponents from the bottom of the table.

That’s why I’m going to back the SK Wyverns in my KBO predictions for Thursday.

KT Wiz Suwon to Beat Kiwoom Heroes

The Kiwoom Heroes prevailed over KT Wiz Suwon in a tough second game of the series and that could prove to be crucial for the rankings at the end of the KBO regular season, especially if the team adds another victory on Thursday.

That’s a tough task, though, because KT Wiz are expected to send one of their most solid pitchers for this game. Kiwoom’s projected starter is nowhere near as good, so the offense will have to carry the clash.

I believe that Suwon has the upper hand and should earn a close victory on Thursday.
