KBO Predictions for Round 130 – Friday, October 2, 2020
The previous round of the top South Korea baseball competition saw several close games that could be vital for the final standings. The regular season ends soon and about half of the teams in the league are still fighting for something.
That makes every round crucial for their ambitions and the next one is an exception. I share my KBO predictions for Friday and they include projected outcomes and analysis of every game on October 2. There are no odds or betting picks, though, because the sportsbooks are yet to release their KBO lines.
Here are all games covered in this post.
- Hanwha Eagles vs. Lotte Giants
- KIA Tigers vs. Doosan Bears
- LG Twins vs. KT Wiz Suwon
- Samsung Lions vs. NC Dinos
- Kiwoom Heroes vs. SK Wyverns
Hanwha Eagles to Beat Lotte Giants
The Lotte Giants found some hope that they could earn a spot in the KBO playoffs after beating the LG Twins on Thursday. The team now has three games against the last-placed Eagles and winning all of them could be enough to close the gap to the fifth spot.
And yet, that could be tough to achieve. Hanwha’s recent form has been excellent, with the Eagles winning six of the last ten games in the league. Their offense has been better than ever and they have the more consistent starting pitcher on Friday.
I know that the Giants have been stronger overall, but the Eagles have more arguments to start the series with a victory.
Doosan Bears to Beat KIA Tigers
The series between the Bears and the Tigers could very well decide the crucial fifth spot in the KBO standings. It’s the last one that leads to the playoffs and the two teams are splitting it right now.
It’s really hard to select a winner in the opening game of the series. The Tigers have been much better recently and they just beat the Heroes three times. KIA has all the momentum, while the Bears lost two of their three games against the last-placed Eagles.
And yet, the reigning champions are expected to start Raul Alcantara who has been the best pitcher in the entire league. He has a 14-2 record and excellent stats, so I prefer to back the Bears in my KBO predictions for Friday.
KT Wiz Suwon to Beat LG Twins
This one looks like one of the easier KBO encounters to predict on Friday. KT Wiz Suwon has been more consistent that the Twins recently and is expected to send a much better starting pitcher for game one, so KT Wiz should have the upper hand.
And yet, the team’s offense has been struggling at times, so I’m not that confident in Suwon’s chances. If the batters are once again absent, this could go either way.
NC Dinos to Beat Samsung Lions
The NC Dinos are simply unstoppable nowadays and they have won eleven games in a row to erase any doubts about the top spot in the KBO standings. The team’s offense is scoring runs for fun, while the pitchers have been excellent as well.
Mike Wright is expected to get the nod on Friday and the American has eleven wins as a starter already. He will be under no pressure to perform and NC’s bullpen usually delivers too.
The Lions are a dangerous opponent right now and they are sending a strong starter, but I simply can’t go against the Dinos at this moment.
SK Wyverns to Beat Kiwoom Heroes
The Kiwoom Heroes were defeated three times in a row by the Lotte Giants and that was enough to lose the second spot in the KBO table. The team can still recover and the series against the Wyverns represents an excellent opportunity to find some wins.
The problem is that Kiwoom’s offense has been struggling recently and the underdog is expected to start one of its best pitchers. The Heroes could be in trouble once again and another defeat might be on the cards for the series opener.
