KBO Predictions for Round 128 – Wednesday, September 30, 2020

The opening games in the top South Korea baseball league this week brought us plenty of runs and some unexpected results. The same series continue on Wednesday, so the losing teams will be given the opportunity to bounce back immediately.

Whether they can take it, is another story that I explore in my KBO predictions. The post includes my analysis on all fixtures on September 30, but you won’t find any odds and betting picks. That’s because the leading sportsbooks haven’t released their lines at the moment I’m writing this.

With that in mind, here’s a full list of all games covered in my KBO predictions for Wednesday.                                                 

The series opener was won by KT Wiz Suwon by 4-1 after a solid performance of the team’s starting pitcher and a late burst from the offense. The Lions were close to their opponents for most of the game and I expect another tight encounter on Wednesday.

Samsung is expected to send a better pitcher this time around, while Suwon’s starter has been exposed multiple times this season.

I think that the Lions can get back to winning ways and I prefer backing them in my KBO predictions for Wednesday.

The Tigers had a strong start against the Heroes and built a 5-0 lead before the opponent woke up in the fifth inning. Kiwoom’s efforts in the second half of the game certainly deserve some respect, but the team simply can’t afford to give up so many runs early on.

The Tigers managed to hold on to a win that might be crucial for their ambitions, while the Heroes should forget about the top spot in the standings and focus on keeping the second place.

The team is sending one of the best starting pitchers in the country on Wednesday, but the Tigers are expected to use a top performer of their own.

It could be a close game this time around and I won’t be shocked if the clash is decided when the bullpens take over. I trust the Heroes more under such circumstances, but I’m not too confident after their struggles on Tuesday.

The Giants started game one of the series with a strong lead after only three innings and never looked back. LG’s efforts only brought a more respectable scoreline which doesn’t count for much.

The Twins need wins and they should have the upper hand on Wednesday. Both sides are expected to send strong starters, but LG’s pitcher has the better stats. The team also has the more reliable bullpen, so I believe that game two should be for the Twins.

The Bears survived some scary moments in the opener against the Eagles to win by 7-3 and will be hoping for another victory in game two on Wednesday. Both sides should start shaky pitchers, so the clash might turn into a shootout.

Despite Doosan’s recent struggles, I still trust the reigning champions more when it comes to delivering runs. Hanwha’s offense has been bad in 2020 and it’s hard to expect a major improvement towards the end of the campaign.

The Eagles had some good moments recently, but the Bears should be able to earn another victory in such a crucial point of the regular season. Let’s not forget that the team still is in the fight for the playoffs which should provide some extra motivation.

The league leaders NC Dinos had a relatively quiet opener against the Wyverns. The favorite didn’t have to push too hard to win this game and three late runs were enough for a 3-0 victory. The race for the top spot in the standings appears to be over, so the priorities should change too.

NC’s coaching staff should now focus on the playoffs, so keeping most important players fresh and in good form is the key.

We might see some unexpected pitchers in the rotation by the end of the season, but even if that’s the case on Wednesday, I still prefer the Dinos against a struggling opponent like the SK Wyverns.
