KBO Predictions for Round 127 – Tuesday, September 29, 2020
We’re approaching the regular season finale in the KBO and you can easily tell that by the tenacity of most games. All teams are fighting hard and we’ve seen the best that South Korea baseball has to offer.
I expect more of the same in the next 20 days or so, starting from this week. Monday features no games, as usual, and the teams will return on Tuesday. I share my KBO predictions for all fixtures on September 29 in this post.
You won’t find odds or betting picks because the top baseball sportsbooks online haven’t released their lines at the moment I’m writing this piece.
And here’s a list of all games covered in my KBO predictions for Tuesday.
- KT Wiz Suwon vs. Samsung Lions
- KIA Tigers vs. Kiwoom Heroes
- Lotte Giants vs. LG Twins
- Doosan Bears vs. Hanwha Eagles
- SK Wyverns vs. NC Dinos
KT Wiz Suwon to Beat Samsung Lions
You should never underestimate the Lions, but I believe that they have once again hit a slump. The team has only three wins in the past ten KBO games. The offense has been inconsistent and the pitchers have often failed to contain the opposition.
I’m afraid we’ll see more of the same on Tuesday because the Lions are expected to send a guy with only three wins from nine starts. That’s simply not good enough against a team like KT Wiz.
The side’s good run in September means that Suwon is now third in the standings and could even climb to second. The prolific offense should be able to punish the Lions and William Cuevas can stop their batters, so I have no other choice but to back KT Wiz here.
Kiwoom Heroes to Beat KIA Tigers
Both the Tigers and the Heroes have been inconsistent in the past month or so and that has been costly. Kiwoom’s pursuit of the top spot in the standings seems doomed to fail after the team is now five wins behind the NC Dinos, while the Tigers are out of the playoffs as it stands.
Both sides really need to find some wins and I believe that the Heroes have a better chance to start the series with a victory. The team’s offense is more reliable and the favorite is expected to send the better pitcher on Tuesday which is enough for me to pick Kiwoom.
LG Twins to Beat Lotte Giants
I don’t think that the Lotte Giants have a realistic chance of qualifying for the KBO playoffs. The series against the Twins could prove to be another hit on their ambitions, especially if you look at the projected starting pitchers for game one.
The solid Tyler Wilson is expected to get the nod for the Twins and he already has led them to 10 wins in 2020. That’s the number of defeats registered by Lotte’s pick, so it’s hard to expect anything else than a victory for LG.
Doosan Bears to Beat Hanwha Eagles
The Doosan Bears stopped the rot with two wins out of three games against the Kiwoom Heroes at the end of last week. The defending champions are once again in a good position to earn a place in the KBO playoffs, but the battle has just started.
On the surface, the series against the Eagles should be an excellent chance to earn two more victories. And yet, the last-placed KBO side beat the Bears twice last week.
I expect a more careful Doosan team this time around and the champions are expected to start a much better pitcher. That’s why I feel obliged to back them in the opener, but I would advise you to be careful with this one.
NC Dinos to Beat SK Wyverns
For a brief moment at the start of September, it looked like the NC Dinos might be challenged for the top spot in the KBO standings. In the middle of the month, the team hit another gear to cement its place in the table.
The Dinos have won eight in a row and managed to rebuild their lead to five victories. The team looks unstoppable right now and I don’t see how the SK Wyverns can change that.
The league leaders are starting Drew Rucinski who might be the top pitcher in the country which is another reason why I’m going for NC in my KBO predictions for Tuesday.
