Picks and Predictions for KBO Games – Friday, May 20th, 2022

Welcome back to our daily KBO picks as we head into Friday. This has been a pretty interesting week for the KBO, so let’s see if it continues into the weekend. Thursday’s games were odd because every single away team won.
That doesn’t necessarily mean anything betting-wise, but it is rather interesting. Nonetheless, Friday’s games start a brand new series between each of the 10 teams. The standings are still very close across the board with the SSG Landers still holding onto first place.
They are matched up with the second place LG Twins for the next 3 games, so that will be a very interesting series. Let’s dive right into the KBO betting odds for Friday and see which teams are favored to win.
KBO Odds for Friday, May 20th, 2022
- Hanwha Eagles (+160) vs. Kiwoom Heroes (-210), O/U 7.5
- KT Wiz (+160) vs. Samsung Lions (-210), O/U 8.5
- NC Dinos (+113) vs. Kia Tigers (-143), O/U 8
- LG Twins (+140) vs. SSG Landers (-170), O/U 7
- Lotte Giants (+146) vs. Doosan Bears (-176), O/U 7
Here are the odds for Friday’s games on the best KBO betting sites.
Hanwha and Kiwoom are going to kick things off with Kiwoom favored to win Game 1 of the series. That shouldn’t be a huge surprise, as they have been much better than the Eagles this year who are tied for last in the KBO.
Kiwoom can use these next 3 games against Hanwha to improve on their 22-19 record and move up from 4th place. The Heroes will be interested in the Samsung Lions vs. KT Wiz series as well.
Kia is fresh off a sweep over the Lotte Giants, which moved them above them in the standings. They will look to continue their nice stretch with an advantageous matchup over the NC Dinos.
The 1st and 2nd place clash between LG and SSG should be the best series of the weekend. Both teams are on a 2 game winning streak and the Landers have a 3 game lead headed into this series.
Both Doosan and Lotte are riding 4 game losing streaks into Friday, with Doosan favored to win Game 1 of the series.

KBO Predictions for Friday’s Games
- Kiwoom Heroes Over Hanwha Eagles
- Samsung Lions Over KT Wiz
- Kia Tigers Over NC Dinos
- SSG Landers Over LG Twins
- Doosan Bears Over Lotte Giants
Here are my KBO predictions for which teams come out on top for Friday’s games.
The Kiwoom Heroes should be very capable of beating the Hanwha Eagles, as most teams are. Hanwha has been at the bottom of the standings all year and it doesn’t look like that’s going to change.
Kiwoom is also sending Eric Jokisch to the mound with his impressive 2.25 ERA. He’s also already beaten Hanwha earlier this year, pitching 7 shutout innings on April 27th.
Samsung has been playing at an incredibly high level for the last couple weeks or so and the Wiz have not. It’s hard to go against these trends right now, especially when the Lions are sending David Buchanan to the mound (2.17 ERA).
The Landers will be playing on their home field (13-5 home record) and will be sending out their ace in Kim Kwang-hyun. Kwang-hyun has an untouchable 0.60 ERA in the 2022 season and is a perfect 6-0.
Adam Plutko should give LG a chance to stay in this game, but I’ll give the edge to the Landers in this one.
Doosan’s starting pitcher for their series opener against Lotte is Robert Stock. Stock has been reliable this season with a nice 2.15 ERA. He’s also already beaten Lotte once this year, allowing just one unearned run in 7.2 innings on April 8th.
Best KBO Bets to Target for 5/20/2022
That brings us to my 3 best KBO betting picks for Friday’s slate.
First I have the Heroes beating the Eagles by 2 runs or more. They have a matchup advantage and they should be able to take care of business here. Eric Jokisch has been incredible for the Heroes all year and is coming off an 8 inning shutout over the KT Wiz.
He already dominated the Eagles once already this year and they won that game 7-0. Yun Dae-kyung will take the mound again, who the Heroes scored 5 runs in 4 innings against him last time. Not much should change this time around and the odds are in positive territory for this bet as well.
I do think the Lions have another strong chance of winning, but the under bet looks appealing as well. If you want to bet on their moneyline, the price is (-210) while their run line is -1.5 (+105) which could be interesting as well.
David Buchanan and So Hyeong-jun are both very solid pitchers. They should be able to hold the opposing teams’ offenses to below average days. These two teams are also the lowest scoring in the league in the last 10 games.
Kia is on the complete opposite end as those teams offensively, scoring 5.7 runs per game in their last 10. Sean Nolin’s 3.86 ERA is solid enough, while Lee Jae-hak’s 7.50 ERA is much more vulnerable as well.
