KBO Predictions and Best Bets (Round 118) – Friday, September 18, 2020

| September 17, 2020 7:10 am PDT

Most opening games of the latest KBO series were surprisingly one-sided. The losing teams will have the chance to improve and find revenge on Friday when the top South Korea baseball league returns for another round of action.

I share my thoughts on all fixtures in my KBO predictions for September 18 below. The post also includes a section with the best bets for Friday that will be added as soon as the leading baseball betting sites publish their lines.

Here are all games included in my KBO predictions for Friday.

  • Hanwha Eagles vs. Kiwoom Heroes
  • KIA Tigers vs. Samsung Lions
  • Lotte Giants vs. LG Twins
  • NC Dinos vs. SK Wyverns
  • Doosan Bears vs. KT Wiz Suwon

Kiwoom Heroes to Beat Hanwha Eagles

The opening game of the series was relatively comfortable for the Kiwoom Heroes thanks to the solid pitching performance of Jake Brigham. He contained the opposition for most of the clash and the offense did enough to secure a 5-2 win on Thursday.

I expect something similar in the second game between the Heroes and the Eagles. Kiwoom is once again starting an excellent pitcher that should be able to stop Hanwha’s offense and the last-placed team in the KBO should struggle defensively as well.

KIA Tigers to Beat Samsung Lions

The Lions started the opening game with a 2-0 after the first inning and that were the last runs they scored by the end of the encounter. The Tigers completely dominated the opposition and ended up winning this clash by 12-2.

I don’t think that the second one will be that easy and both teams are starting strong pitchers, but the momentum from the series opener should be enough to carry the Tigers to another win.

Samsung could always explode as we’ve seen multiple times in the past, but the lack of consistency is why I prefer KIA in my KBO predictions for Friday.

LG Twins to Beat Lotte Giants

I thought that the Giants can win game one on Thursday, but they were destroyed instead. LG’s offense returned in style to punish the opposition and the problems from the previous series looked behind the Twins.

The team managed to restore some confidence and should have the upper hand in game two. LG’s expected starter has been significantly better throughout the season and the offense is on fire, so another win is on the cards.

NC Dinos to Beat SK Wyverns

The opening game between the Dinos and the Wyverns wasn’t very eventful. Neither team managed to score in the first seven innings but the KBO leaders found three runs in the last two to prevail over the stubborn opponent.

The Dinos are obviously not at their best right now, but they are still significantly stronger than one of the weakest squads in the country. The Wyverns have the advantage when it comes to the starting pitchers, but I still believe that NC’s superior offense will win them game two on Friday.

Doosan Bears to Beat KT Wiz Suwon

Both sides will be sending some of their best starting pitchers for Friday’s clash, so game two of the series between the Bears and KT Wiz looks hard to predict. I don’t think we’ll see many runs in the first six or seven innings in this one.

I still believe that the Bears have the slightly better offense and Won Joon Choi has a legit claim of being the top pitcher in the country, so I’m going for the reigning champions here, despite their 3-0 defeat in the series opener.

Best KBO Bets for Friday, September 18

Here are my recommended KBO betting picks for Friday, September 18.

  • Doosan Bears vs KT Wiz Suwon under 10.5; -112
  • KIA Tigers to win; -130
