KBO Predictions for Wednesday, April 7 (2021)

We already saw a few rounds from the top South Korean baseball league, so it’s time for some KBO predictions! Our team will cover most games in the league, starting from the next round that will take place on April 7.

There are no specific KBO betting picks. Since the odds are not yet available, I’ve included only my predictions and analysis.

I highlighted the SSG Landers as one of the teams that might improve the most in my KBO season preview, and the early signs have been positive.

The squad already registered victories over the Giants and the Eagles. The defense looks much better in 2021, so that would be crucial in the upcoming months.

The projected starting pitchers for Wednesday suggest that the Landers should have another good day. One of their new foreign signings, Wilmer Font, should start this one, and the expectations are high.

The opposition will have to rely on Kim Yi-Hwan, who struggled badly last year, so I think the Landers should dominate the upcoming clash.

The Kiwoom Heroes had the most impressive start in the 2021 KBO season after two dominant victories over the Samsung Lions. The team was brought down to earth by the Tigers on Tuesday, though, and lost the series opener by 5-4.

Kia’s offense found plenty of good spots, but I expect better defense from the Heroes in the next game. They will rely on former MLB player Josh Smith as their starting pitcher, so I don’t expect to see many opportunities for the Tigers.

The other problem is that Kia has listed Lee Min-Woo as their starter.

The Heroes have the firepower to punish him. That’s why I feel obliged to pick them in my KBO predictions for April 7.

The LG Twins were the best defensive team in the KBO last season, and they should be even better in 2021. The first two games of the campaign show how good they are when it comes to limiting the opposition.

The Twins held both the reigning champions NC Dinos and KT Wiz so far. They are sending another strong starting pitcher (Jeong Chan-Heon) on Wednesday, so Suwon might struggle to score runs.

I’m not sure what to expect from their own starter Ko Young-Pyo who hasn’t played since 2018. I can’t imagine that he will set the world on fire after two years on the sidelines, so I’m going for the Twins in this one.

The reigning champions, NC Dinos, really need to find a victory after losing two in a row at the start of the 2021 season. The performance against the LG Twins in the opener was decent, and the opposition was strong, so no shame in that loss.

I can’t say the same for the defeat against Lotte on Tuesday. The Dinos had to rely on the bullpen, and that was a huge problem. The Giants won by 10-5, but it must be mentioned that it all came down to the last inning.

Their opponents are expected to start Park Se-Woong (who’s decent), so this clash should be tighter.

I think that favors the Dinos, and they should register their first win for the new season.

The Samsung Lions allowed 19 runs in their first three games, so it’s not a surprise they were crushed in all of them. This team’s defense has been abysmal, and I’m not sure that would change on Wednesday.

They face a Bears side that relies heavily on offense, and I don’t think that Won Tae-In can stop the runners-up from 2020.

On top of that, Doosan will be sending new signing Ariel Miranda who had a 3.80 ERA and a 1.34 WHIP in the strong Chinese league last season.

I simply don’t see how the Lions could win this, so I’m backing the Bears for another victory on Wednesday.
