KBO Predictions and Analysis – Wednesday, April 14 (2021)

| April 13, 2021 11:20 am PDT

The new week of KBO action brought us some exciting encounters on Tuesday, and the same series continues the next day. Some of the top teams in South Korean baseball will be hungry for revenge after losing the first games.

I share my thoughts on their chances to strike back in my KBO predictions for April 14. I’ve included information about the starting lineups and the form of all sides, but there are no betting picks because the odds are yet to be published.

With that in mind, here are all games included in my KBO predictions for Wednesday.

  • Hanhwa Eagles vs. Samsung Lions
  • KT Wiz Suwon vs. Doosan Bears
  • LG Twins vs. Kiwoom Heroes
  • Lotte Giants vs. Kia Tigers
  • NC Dinos vs. SSG Landers

Samsung Lions to Beat Hanwha Eagles

I backed the Samsung Lions in the opener, and they started with three runs in the first inning which proved to be crucial. The Eagles were better for the rest of the game, but they lost by 4-3.

They had some chances to win here, but I think the series’s second clash will be much harder for them.

Nick Kingham is next in the Eagles rotation, and he has been very vulnerable throughout the entire last season and the start of this one.

The Lions should be able to score for fun. On top of that, their own starting pitcher Lee Seung-Min was great in his first game of the campaign and completely shut down the Doosan Bears.

I see more arguments for a Lions victory here, so I’m backing Samsung to win game two as well.

Doosan Bears to Beat KT Wiz Suwon

My KBO predictions for Tuesday included a win for KT Wiz Suwon, and I got this one right. It was a close clash with plenty of runs, and I certainly see the potential for something similar in the next encounter between these two teams.

They are both sending starting pitchers that can’t be trusted, and the offensive players should be in an excellent mood after the opener.

I expect a prolific performance from both sides, and I believe that the Doosan Bears should be able to win the second clash of the series.

LG Twins to Beat Kiwoom Heroes

I was surprised by how leaky the Twins were in the opening game. Kiwoom’s offense punished them time and time again, so the momentum is with the Heroes.

I would normally back them under such circumstances, but the projected starting lineups suggest that the Twins should have the upper hand.

Jeong Chan-Heon is LG’s starting pitcher, and he has been solid in both 2020 and his first start of the current campaign.

He is certainly much better than Kiwoom’s starter, so it should be a different game on Wednesday. The Twins have all the means to strike back, and that’s what I expect to happen.

Lotte Giants to Beat Kia Tigers

I expect a shootout between these two in the series opener, but only the Giants showed up. Their offense took control early on and simply crushed the Tigers, who looked doomed for most of the game.

I’m not sure their defense would get better since they are starting a guy with two defeats and a 7.23 ERA on the field. At the same time, the Giants will use a pitcher who was destroyed in his opening clash.

I think that Lotte’s momentum might be the deciding factor here, so I’m going for the Giants in my KBO predictions for Wednesday.

NC Dinos to Beat SSG Landers

The Dinos won the opening clash against the Landers thanks to their defense, and they might have to rely on it again on Wednesday. Moon Seung-Won is probably SSG’s best pitcher, and he should be able to keep the champions quiet.

The good news for the Dinos is that they have more weapons, so they should find a way to score enough runs in this clash.

It will be tight once again, but my money is on another victory for the reigning KBO champions.
