KBO Predictions and Analysis – Wednesday, May 5 (2021)

The opening round of games in South Korean baseball for the week was postponed, but the leading league in the country is back on May 5.

We have five fixtures, and I cover them all in my KBO predictions for Wednesday. The teams should be rested after not playing for two days straight, and I’ve taken that into consideration.

Here’s a full list of the games that are part of my KBO predictions.

The Lotte Giants are last in the standings after losing four games in a row. The team’s defense has been abysmal, and that’s the main reason for the bad run.

The good news is that Dan Straily is next in the rotation, and he’s by far the best pitcher of the squad. The American has solid stats in his four starts up to this point, and he should be able to keep the opponents quiet.

Kia’s starter is not bad either, but he’s not as good as Straily. The question here is if five or six quality innings from him would be enough. I would probably go against the Giants against a better side, but the Tigers have been far from convincing, too, so I think that a win for Lotte makes the most sense here.

The strong recent form of KT Wiz helped the team reach second place in the standings. Suwon has four wins in a row, and the offense has been close to unstoppable.

I see no reason for the good run to end on Wednesday. The Heroes have been better recently, but they are expected to start An Woo-Jin, who already has two defeats. The pitcher’s stats suggest that he won’t be able to contain the opposition.

At the same time, KT Wiz is starting William Cuevas, who’s been decent. Common sense suggests that picking the favorite is the best choice here.

The Twins have a great defense and could stop anyone in the league, but they are barely scoring any runs. That’s why they have lost six of the last ten games, and the upcoming clash against the Doosan won’t be easy either.

It should be a tight one, but I believe that the Bears will find a few runs, which is enough for me to back them in my KBO predictions for May 5.

The reigning champions NC Dinos are the worst KBO team based on the last ten games. They have lost seven of them and looked lost in the process.

On the bright side, Drew Rucinski is next on the rotation, and he can certainly stop the mediocre offense of SSG. The Landers are way too inconsistent, and their starting pitcher has struggled at times this season.

I find it hard to trust the NC Dinos too much nowadays, but they should be able to win the game on Wednesday.

I might raise a few eyebrows here, but I think that the Eagles might come out on top in the upcoming clash against the KBO leaders. They have registered three wins in a row, and their confidence is sky-high right now.

On top of that, the team is expected to start its best pitcher, Ryan Carpenter, who currently has a 1.60 ERA. He should contain the opposition, and I’m not sure that Samsung’s choice could do the same.

Ben Lively has been unconvincing in 2021, and that should open the door for the Eagles on Wednesday.
