KBO Predictions and Analysis – Wednesday, May 19 (2021)

Last week saw plenty of KBO games postponed because of windy conditions and rain, but it looks like the bad weather is behind us now.

The first round of this week went through as usual, and the same should happen on Wednesday if the forecasts are correct. There are five games on the schedule, and I share my thoughts on all of them in my KBO predictions for May 19.

After some decent moments in the early parts of the season, the Hanwha Eagles hit a massive slump recently and now sit in the last position of the KBO table.

The team lost four of the last five games, including the opener against the Giants this week. On the bright side, Lotte hasn’t been much better, and this is the squad with the worst defense in the league.

A quick look at the starting pitchers shows that the Eagles have the advantage. Nick Kingham has three victories from six starts in 2021 and respectable stats, while Lotte’s Enderson Franco has been struggling big time.

That’s enough for me to back the Eagles on Wednesday, but it might be a close one, so be careful if you plan on betting on the KBO with real money.

The good streak of the Dinos was finally stopped when the Twins managed to keep them to zero runs on Tuesday. It was only the second defeat in ten games for the champions, and I expect them to bounce back immediately.

It’s Shin Min-Hyeok’s turn in the Dinos rotation, and he has four victories from the same numbers of games, on a 2.83 ERA and a 1.19 WHIP. The youngster has been great, and he should be able to contain the opposition.

The Twins are also sending a solid starter, but their offense is much worse, and I think that the Dinos should be able to win this one.

You never know what to expect from KT Wiz Suwon, and the first game against the Bears is an excellent example of that.

Keeping one of the strongest offensive teams in the KBO at bay for nine innings is quite the achievement, and it helped KT Wiz win. I’m not sure that the side can do the same in the second clash, though.

I see more reasons to back Doosan, and that’s my pick for my KBO predictions for Wednesday.

Both sides are expected to send solid starting pitchers for this one, but I feel like Kia’s form is just awful right now, and the team needs a spark.

Losing four in a row and eight from the last ten means that the Tigers now sit eight in the KBO table. Their bullpen has been struggling big time, and they have the worst offense in the league.

The SSG Landers certainly have the means to punish the opposition and have been way more consistent in pretty much every area. That’s enough for me to back them on Wednesday.

The Kiwoom Heroes completely dominated the Lions in the previous round and won by 15-3. It was their biggest win of the season, and the KBO leaders certainly feel hurt by the humiliation.

Won Tae-In is expected to start for the Lions, and he’s been the best KBO pitcher in 2021, in my opinion. The youngster has six wins from seven starts. His ERA and WHIP are 1.00 through 45 innings so far, and I simply can’t bet against him.

The offense will be eager to bounce back too, so picking the Lions in my KBO predictions for May 19 makes the most sense.
