KBO Predictions and Analysis – Wednesday, May 12 (2021)
We saw a few dramatic games in South Korean baseball in the first round of the week, and I think we’ll have more of the same in the next one too. I share more details about my expectations in this post with KBO predictions for Wednesday, May 12.
The standings in the league are still very tight, with only 6.5 games difference between the first and last place in the table after more than 30 rounds played.
Every single team has a realistic chance of reaching the playoffs, so the battle will be fierce!
Here are all games covered in my KBO predictions for Wednesday.
- LG Twins vs. Kia Tigers
- NC Dinos vs. Hanwha Eagles
- SSG Landers vs. Lotte Giants
- Samsung Lions vs. KT Wiz Suwon
- Kiwoom Heroes vs. Doosan Bears
LG Twins to Beat Kia Tigers
I was surprised by Kia’s determination and strong defense in the opening game. The Tigers destroyed one of the solid teams in the league, and that should boost their confidence.
And yet, the Twins are sending one of their best pitchers from the start on Wednesday. Andrew Suarez has four wins from five starts and a 1.50 ERA, and a 1.02 WHIP.
The American is good enough to completely shut down a side like Kia, and the bullpen can finish the job, even if the Twins’ offense struggles once again.
I’m not too confident in LG after the opener, but they should bounce back immediately and win on Wednesday. Still, if you plan to bet on the KBO on May 12, be careful with this clash.
NC Dinos to Beat Hanwha Eagles
It looks like the NC Dinos are finally building some momentum after winning four of the last five games.
NC’s projected starter for this game is Shin Min-Hyeok, who has excellent stats and three wins from the same number of fixtures up to this point.
The youngster should be able to hold an average offensive team like the Eagles, who have a decent starter themselves, but their bullpen is unreliable.
Unless Hanwha’s offense exceeds all expectations, the Dinos should win this one with ease, and I prefer backing them in my KBO predictions.
SSG Landers to Beat Lotte Giants
The first game between the Landers and the Giants was electric, with both sides feeling it at times. Lotte was in control for large parts of the game and built a 4-1 lead before the start of the seventh inning.
That’s when SSG’s offense took control to wipe out the opponent’s advantage. The Landers had a 7-4 lead of their own before it was Lotte’s turn to bat in the ninth but conceded twice and had to sweat until the very end.
They somehow survived the late scare, and the next clash should be easier. They have the better starting pitcher this time around, and we already saw how bad the opposition’s bullpen is. That’s enough for me to back the Landers in game two.
KT Wiz Suwon to Beat Samsung Lions
Samsung’s pitchers had a bad day at the office in the previous round and lost despite a valiant attempt from the offense. I’m sure that the league leaders will be eager to get back on the right track, and they should have the chance to do it against the same opponent on Wednesday.
The problem is that KT Wiz Suwon looks to be in a slightly better spot. The team is sending a bit stronger starter and has the more prolific offense overall.
I expect a close one, but KT Wiz should come out on top after all, and that’s my final pick.
Doosan Bears to Beat Kiwoom Heroes
The Doosan Bears are starting to look scary after a four-game winning streak. The team’s defense has been much stronger than we thought, and the offense is getting more consistent after each week.
They will be able to rely on Ariel Miranda, who has four wins in the KBO already, while Kiwoom’s starter has been shaky up to this point of the season.
If you add all the Bears’ momentum, I simply feel obliged to back them in my KBO predictions for Wednesday.
