KBO Predictions and Analysis – Wednesday, July 7 (2021)
The previous round brought us three more postponed South Korean baseball games because of rain. The bad weather might continue on Wednesday, with another three fixtures hanging in the balance.
And yet, the forecasts suggest that we should have at least two, more likely three or four games. In the best-case scenario, we could have a full round.
That’s why I’ve included all encounters in my KBO predictions for July 7. Here are all the games that are planned for Wednesday.
- Kia Tigers vs. Hanwha Eagles
- KT Wiz Suwon vs. Samsung Lions
- LG Twins vs. Lotte Giants
- NC Dinos vs. Doosan Bears
- SSG Landers vs. Kiwoom Heroes
Kia Tigers to Beat Hanwha Eagles
The first clash between the Tigers and the Lions was postponed, and it’s possible that the second one has the same fate. However, there’s a chance for the game to proceed as planned, and I think that would favor the Tigers.
What should make a difference here is that the Tigers have been excellent against this opponent in 2021, recording four wins and only one defeat. The team has looked great versus the Eagles up to this point, and this is enough for me to pick Kia in my KBO predictions for Wednesday.
Samsung Lions to Beat KT Wiz Suwon
I picked the Lions to win in the previous round, but the game was postponed. It looks like the teams are expected to send the same lineups if the next clash goes through, so my prediction remains the same.
The Lions are about to start their top pitcher David Buchanan, and he’s been immense so far in 2021. Ko Young Pyo is a worthy match for KT Wiz, but he was destroyed by the same opponent last time around.
On top of that, the Lions have been excellent against Suwon so far this season, and I expect them to end the winning run of the KBO leaders.
LG Twins to Beat Lotte Giants
I really don’t know what to make of this one. The LG Twins are the much better side, and they have an excellent record against the Giants this season.
And yet, the team news suggests that the underdog should have the upper hand.
I can’t say the same about LG’s starter, who has three defeats in four starts so far. And yet, the team has a much better bullpen, and the offense has been stronger lately.
It’s a tough one, but I feel like the Twins should just edge the upcoming game.
Doosan Bears to Beat NC Dinos
I picked the NC Dinos in the opening game of the series, and the reigning champions didn’t disappoint. They registered a 7-3 victory in one of the two encounters that went through, and the weather reports predict that the second clash will proceed as expected too.
That opens the door for a quick bounce back for the Bears, and the starting pitchers are in Doosan’s favor. The team is expected to start Ariel Miranda, who has been great this season, while NC’s pick is a guy who was shaky in several games already.
The Bears have the offensive weapons to punish him again and the stronger defense for this one, so I prefer them in my KBO predictions for Wednesday, July 7.
SSG Landers to Beat Kiwoom Heroes
This one is very tricky, and I will go against my initial instinct. The Heroes just won against the Landers, and on paper, they are sending the stronger starter.
And yet, Sam Gaviglio just arrived in South Korea, and judging him after one game would be foolish.
If you add Kiwoom’s inconsistency this season, I’m more inclined to back the SSG Landers in the next clash.
