KBO Predictions and Analysis – Wednesday, August 11 (2021)

| August 10, 2021 11:03 am PDT

The first day of action after the return of South Korean baseball was pretty dynamic. We saw several interesting games and one of the fixtures was postponed because of rain.

According to the latest weather reports, we should have a full round of games on Wednesday, and I have prepared KBO predictions for the following encounters scheduled for August 11.

  • Hanwha Eales vs. Kia Tigers
  • KT Wiz Suwon vs. Kiwoom Heroes
  • Lotte Giants vs. NC Dinos
  • Doosan Bears vs. Samsung Lions
  • SSG Landers vs. LG Twins

Hanwha Eagles to Beat Kia Tigers

I expected a win for the Kia Tigers in their previous game against the Hanwha Eagles, and they didn’t disappoint. That was enough to improve the H2H record against the same opponent to 6-1 for the season.

The Eagles will have a good chance to strike back immediately, though. They are expected to send a decent pitcher like Nick Kingham on Wednesday, while the Tigers will have to rely on Kim Hyeon-Su.

The youngster was demolished in his only start so far, and only the exceptional performance of Kia’s offense saved him.

The Tigers certainly have the momentum, but Hanwha’s advantage in the starting pitchers is too obvious to ignore.

Kiwoom Heroes to Beat KT Wiz Suwon

Another exceptional performance by Eric Jokisch was enough for the Kiwoom Heroes to win the opening game against KT Wiz Suwon. It was still a relatively close clash, and I expect more of the same on Wednesday.

Both teams are about to start pitchers that have been inconsistent.

The stats of So Hyeong-jun (KT Wiz) and Choi Won-tae (Kiwoom) are similar, and both men struggled big-time against Wednesday’s opponents already.

We might witness a very entertaining clash with a bunch of runs. I would normally back KT Wiz under such circumstances, but the Heroes have come out on top in many wilds games this season. That’s why I prefer picking them for my KBO predictions for August 11.

Lotte Giants to Beat NC Dinos

The NC Dinos once again looked far off the form that helped them win the Korean Series last season. The reigning champions are extremely inconsistent in pretty much every area of the pitch and lost against the Lotte Giants on Tuesday.

The next game should be even harder for the Dinos, based on the latest team news. Song Myung-gi is expected to get the nod, and he has a 6.12 ERA after ten games this year.

Lotte’s Enderson Franco has been significantly more reliable, and the team has the momentum after the victory in the previous round. It should be close, but I see more arguments in favor of the Giants in this one.

Samsung Lions to Beat Doosan Bears

The opening game between the Lions and the Bears fell through because of the weather. There’s a 7% chance of rain on Wednesday according to the latest information we have, so the second should go through.

There are no changes in the lineups, so I feel obliged to stick to my initial prediction that the Lions will win this clash.

Mike Montgomery is expected to make his debut for Samsung, and the MLB veteran should provide a good defensive platform.

At the same time, the Bears will start a guy who has struggled in every game so far. The Lions should be able to punish the opposition consistently and win on Wednesday.

LG Twins to Beat SSG Landers

The LG Twins were flawless on Tuesday, and they easily beat the SSG Landers. We might witness something similar in the next clash, too, based on the starting lineups.

Andrew Suarez is starting for the Twins, and he’s been exceptional since the start of the campaign. With seven victories from nine games and great stats, it’s obvious that LG’s pitcher is among the best in the entire KBO.

He should be able to contain the Landers early on, and the strongest bullpen in the country can finish the job in the late innings.

At the same time, SSG’s own starter Oh Won-seok has been inconsistent. It’s hard to expect him to keep it up with Suarez, so I prefer the Twins in my KBO predictions for Wednesday.
