KBO Predictions and Analysis – Tuesday, June 8 (2021)
The KBO season has been incredibly tight so far, and the first six teams in the table are within two games. Even the seventh-best squad in South Korean baseball still has a realistic chance to fight for the top spots in the standings.
Every game matters, and I’m sure we’ll see plenty of exciting encounters this week. Follow along in my KBO predictions for Tuesday, as I cover all fixtures scheduled for June 8.
It looks like the weather will be great, so the following games are expected to take place.
- Kia Tigers vs. Samsung Lions
- KT Wiz Suwon vs. SSG Landers
- NC Dinos vs. LG Twins
- Doosan Bears vs. Lotte Giants
- Kiwoom Heroes vs. Hanwha Eagles
Samsung Lions to Beat Kia Tigers
The Samsung Lions start the week only a win behind the KBO leaders. The series against the Kia Tigers delivered an excellent opportunity to attack the top spot in the table.
The favorite, Baek Jung-Hyun, is expected to start. He has decent stats and four wins in the league already in 2021. He should be able to contain the struggling offense of the Tigers.
If you add Samsung’s stronger bullpen, I don’t think the Tigers can win this one, and I prefer to pick the Lions for my KBO predictions.
KT Wiz Suwon to Beat SSG Landers
The team news heavily favors KT Wiz Suwon in this one, especially when it comes to the pitchers. It’s Ko Young-Pyo’s turn in the rotation, and he’s managed to win four from his six starts up to this point of the campaign.
Suwon’s offense is also expected to be stronger, but it must be mentioned that the Landers are pretty solid when it comes to finding home runs.
On the negative side, the starting pitcher Jo Yeong-U has been pretty bad this season. He was punished in most of his 2021, and his only strong performance came against … KT Wiz Suwon.
That’s the only reason I’m not super confident in KT Wiz, but I still expect the team to win on Tuesday.
NC Dinos to Beat LG Twins
I believe that the series between the Dinos and the Twins might be the most impactful this week when it comes to the battle for the KBO playoffs.
The reigning champions have an excellent opportunity to put the rest of the league under pressure, and their recent form suggests that it might be time for a strong run.
The stats of both starting pitchers are solid, and they have the same 3-3 record up to this point.
I think that NC’s offense will be more dangerous, which should be enough for a victory. And yet, the Twins have plenty of momentum themselves, so this game could be really close.
Doosan Bears vs. Lotte Giants
The Doosan Bears are obliged to have a good series against the Lotte Giants, considering the standings.
The Giants are expected to start one of their better pitchers, but that doesn’t mean much in their case. Enderson Franco already beat the Bears once this season, but that was one of his few good games in the league.
I don’t expect much from him or Lotte’s bullpen, while the Bears have a much stronger offense and an unbeaten starting pitcher for this clash.
And yet, I assume the odds won’t be too high, so I’m not sure Doosan’s is a great choice from a KBO betting perspective.
Hanwha Eagles to Beat Kiwoom Heroes
You will rarely see me back the Hanwha Eagles in 2021, but I think that’s one of the good moments to make an exception. The team is expected to start Kim Min-woo, who already beat the Heroes twice this season and has been decent as a whole.
He should be able to contain Kiwoom’s inconsistent offense. Let’s not forget that the Heroes have won only three of their last ten games.
On the bright side, they are sending Jake Birgham; he’s been solid, so this one might be close. I still prefer the Eagles for the game on Tuesday, though.
