KBO Predictions and Analysis – Tuesday, August 31 (2021)
It’s time for another week of South Korean baseball action, and by the looks of it, the weather won’t be on our side on Tuesday. Four of the five games on the schedule are doubtful, and two of them are likely to get canceled because of rain.
And yet, at least three will most likely go through, and we could have all five with some luck. That’s enough for me to check the team news and share my KBO predictions for August 31.
I cover the following games for those of you who might be interested in KBO betting with real cash.
- Kia Tigers vs. Doosan Bears
- KT Wiz Suwon vs. Hanwha Eagles
- LG Twins vs. Lotte Giants
- NC Dinos vs. SSG Landers
- Kiwoom Heroes vs. Samsung Lions
Doosan Bears to Beat Kia Tigers
Both sides finished last week on a low, losing two games in a row. That’s not the end of the world for the Tigers, but the Bears are still fighting for the playoffs.
The two defeats mean they are seventh in the standings right now, 2.5 games behind the fifth spot.
The team news certainly favors Doosan because Ariel Miranda is next in the rotation. The pitcher has ten victories so far and excellent stats, so he should be able to keep the Tigers quiet.
Kia’s starter Daniel Mendgen is not bad either but way more inconsistent than Miranda. If you add the stronger offense and bullpen of the Bears, it’s easy to see why I prefer them.
KT Wiz Suwon to Beat Hanwha Eagles
The Hanwha Eagles looked strong at the end of last week, but they have to face the KBO leaders at the start of this one.
KT Wiz Suwon sits on top of the table with a 2.5 wins advantage over the second-placed LG Twins. Beating the Eagles multiple times in the next few days could help the team enormously, and I expect a solid start on Tuesday.
So Hyeong-jun is expected to get the nod, and he’s been decent in 2021. More importantly, KT Wiz Suwon has eight victories from ten games against the Eagles this season.
The underdog has struggled big time, and I’m not sure that a shaky pitcher like Kim Ki-joong could change anything.
LG Twins to Beat Lotte Giants
I have little doubt about picking the LG Twins in this one. The team has been excellent recently, and the defense looks stronger than ever.
The Twins contained much more dangerous opponents than the Giants, and with Andrew Suarez next in the rotation, Lotte’s offense will be in trouble. The pitcher has eight wins from ten starts, and he demolished the Giants last time around.
I don’t see how they can overcome the opposition’s defense, and I’m sure that LG will find a way to score a few runs. That’s enough for me to back the favorite in my KBO predictions for Tuesday. August 31.
SSG Landers to Beat NC Dinos
The Dinos are simply not the same team that won the South Korean baseball title last year, and I don’t think they have a chance to repeat this achievement in 2021.
On the bright side, Drew Rucinski is expected to start on Tuesday. He is NC’s best pitcher, and yet, you couldn’t tell that the last time the American faced the Landers.
SSG’s offense demolished him, and I think the team has a good chance to win once again. The Landers won their last two, and their batters were impressive.
If Choi Min-jun can deliver a decent performance as the starting pitcher, they can win. He already did that once against the Dinos, so I’m picking SSG here.
Samsung Lions to Beat Kiwoom Heroes
No other team can be as self-destructive as the Kiwoom Heroes have been this season. On multiple occasions, the squad managed to lose easy games against weak opponents that could’ve put a lot of pressure on the KBO leaders.
The Heroes are now fighting to keep their playoffs spot instead, and the next clash will be tough. Samsung’s Baek Jung-hyun might be the best pitcher in the league after winning ten games already on excellent stats.
At the same time, Kiwoom’s potential starter for the upcoming clash is a guy with an 8.03 ERA. That’s simply not good enough when you’re about to face a team as good as the Lions.
