KBO Predictions and Analysis – Thursday, May 13 (2021)
I must admit that the last few rounds of the KBO surprised me. Some teams are on the rise, while others have lost momentum after the strong start of the campaign in South Korean baseball.
I’ve adjusted my expectations to the latest realities in my KBO predictions for Thursday, as you will see in my analysis of the upcoming games.
Here’s a full list of the fixtures scheduled for May 13.
- LG Twins vs. Kia Tigers
- NC Dinos vs. Hanwha Eagles
- SSG Landers vs. Lotte Giants
- Samsung Lions vs. KT Wiz Suwon
- Kiwoom Heroes vs. Doosan Bears
LG Twins to Beat Kia Tigers
After a brief moment of offensive improvement, it looks like the Twins are back to square one. The team lost three games in a row, and unless the defense is close to perfect, LG simply can’t win.
I would normally back the Tigers based on form and momentum, but Jeong Chan-Heon is next in the rotation. The experienced pitcher already led his side to three wins from four games, thanks to a 1.61 ERA and a 1.00 WHIP.
He’s too good right now, and I think his presence would be enough for the Twins to stop the rot. I expect a low-scoring game and a win for LG on Thursday.
NC Dinos to Beat Hanwha Eagles
The Dinos won the second game against the Eagles on Wednesday, and they are slowly building momentum. The reigning champions are only a victory behind the second spot in the standings, which should boost their confidence.
They will meet the same opponent on Thursday, and both sides are expected to start respectable pitchers. I think this favors the Dinos because they have a stronger offense and a better bullpen.
Even if the game is not going well after the first six or seven innings, NC can turn it around late, and that’s why I’m backing the Dinos in my KBO predictions for May 13.
SSG Landers to Beat Lotte Giants
I thought that the Lotte Giants could bounce back and win against the Landers in the previous round, but they are in terrible shape right now. The team is on a three-game losing streak and registered eight defeats in the last ten rounds.
The offense has been a big issue, and the defense is not much better either.
They are scoring for fun right now, and the good run should continue on Thursday.
Samsung Lions to Beat KT Wiz Suwon
The first two games between the Samsung Lions and KT Wiz Suwon were both pretty wild. Both sides won one of them thanks to prolific offensive performances, but I think it’s time for the pitchers to shine on Thursday.
The Lions are sending arguably their best starter, Won Tae-In, who has five wins from six starts and phenomenal stats.
Suwon’s Odrisamer Despaigne has been solid, too, although not as good as his opponent. Both can contain the opposition, but the Lions should still find some runs against the Cuban. If you add their better bullpen, I think we have enough reasons to back the KBO leaders in this one.
Doosan Bears to Beat Kiwoom Heroes
The Bears were finally stopped after a lackluster performance by their offense in the second game against the Heroes. Doosan failed to score even a single run which is not something you see every day, and I don’t think we can expect it to happen again on Thursday.
The team has the means to respond immediately and is expected to start an unbeaten pitcher in Choi Won-Joon. He can put the opposition under pressure for most of the game, which should be enough for the Bears to win this clash.
