KBO Predictions and Analysis – Saturday, May 22 (2021)
I must admit that I got two of my KBO predictions for the previous round very wrong, and some of the underdogs caught me by surprise. It’s something the South Korean league does now and then, and I’m sure it won’t be the last time.
That won’t stop me from sharing more KBO predictions, though, and it’s time for another batch that covers the next fixtures, scheduled for Saturday, May 22.
- Kia Tigers vs. Samsung Lions
- KT Wiz Suwon vs. Hanwha Eagles
- LG Twins vs. SSG Landers
- Lotte Giants vs. Doosan Bears
- NC Dinos vs. Kiwoom Heroes
Samsung Lions to Beat Kia Tigers
The opening clash between the Lions and the Tigers was closer than I expected, but Samsung still won eventually. That was the fifth defeat in a row for Kia, and the team looks lost right now.
The offense was slightly better on Friday, but the inability to keep the opposition at bay is obvious. I don’t see how this could change in the next clash, based on the stats of the starting pitcher.
Im Gi-Yeong has two defeats so far, and his ERA is over 7.00. On the bright side for the Tigers, Samsung’s choice is hardly any better and has registered a 9.78 in his only start so far.
We should see runs for both sides in this one, but I feel that the Lions are better prepared to punish their opponents.
Hanwha Eagles to Beat KT Wiz Suwon
I can’t believe that the Eagles completely shut down KT Wiz Suwon, which doesn’t often happen this season.
The KBO leaders will be eager to bounce back immediately, and their offense will come out firing in the next clash.
The American has a 1.91 ERA up to this point of the campaign, and I’m sure he will give Hanwha a chance. The momentum from the opening win and Carpenter’s start give me enough reasons to back the Eagles in my KBO predictions for Saturday.
LG Twins to Beat SSG Landers
The SSG Landers were one of the teams that didn’t disappoint me in the previous round after beating the LG Twins. They took full advantage of their significantly better starting pitcher and built an early lead that was enough, despite some problems in the last inning.
Obviously, the Twins have the better bullpen, though, and the starting pitchers for the next game have comparable stats.
That’s why I expect LG to win the second clash. It might be close for the first six or seven innings, but the Twins should have the upper hand later on.
Doosan Bears to Beat Lotte Giants
The comprehensive victory of the Giants was probably the biggest shock for me when it comes to the previous round. Lotte completely destroyed a strong Doosan squad and looked miles ahead on Friday.
The team simply can’t perform on the same level game after game, so I smell trouble in the next clash. The Bears are starting the much better pitcher, and their offense is still elite. They will be looking for revenge on Saturday, and I think they will find it.
Kiwoom Heroes to Beat NC Dinos
The opening clash between the Heroes and the Dinos went pretty much as I expected. The superior form and the better starting pitcher were enough for Kiwoom to register a victory over the reigning KBO champions.
NC remains a very annoying team from a KBO gambling perspective, and you never know what to expect. When the champions are at their best, they are unstoppable.
The problem is that they have often been below-par this season, and I won’t be shocked if that happens on Saturday too.
No side has a significant advantage when it comes to the starting pitchers, but the Heroes have been better in the past two weeks, and I prefer to give them the nod in my KBO predictions for May 22.
