KBO Predictions and Analysis – Saturday, May 15 (2021)
It’s been a dynamic week in South Korean baseball and there are two more rounds left before the teams get their rest on Monday. I’m sure they will be eager to do their best to end the week on a high.
I share my expectations for every single game on Saturday’s schedule in my KBO predictions for May 15. I’ve added some team news and stats to my analysis, too.
Here’s a list of all games that are included.
- Hanwha Eagles vs. Kiwoom Heroes
- KT Wiz Suwon vs. Lotte Giants
- Doosan Bears vs. SSG Landers
- Samsung Lions vs. LG Twins
- Kia Tigers vs. NC Dino
Kiwoom Heroes to Beat Hanwha Eagles
The Eagles beat the Heroes in the opening clash. I must admit I didn’t see this one coming. Kim Min-Woo contained Kiwoom for most of the game, and Hanwha’s offense was exceptional against the opposition’s bullpen to secure the victory in the late innings.
The Heroes should be able to punish him, and their own pitcher for this game is Eric Jokisch. The American’s been below his best recently, but he remains one of the solid performers in this position.
KT Wiz Suwon to Beat Lotte Giants
I backed KT Wiz Suwon in my KBO predictions for the previous round, and the team comfortably destroyed Lotte. The Giants look lost right now and I’m not sure they will be able to improve on Saturday.
Their offense has been inefficient and they allow way too many runs. I don’t think that projected starter Seo Jun-Won can change something based on his 7.11 ERA so far in 2021.
The only good news is that Suwon’s pick for a starting pitcher isn’t much better. And yet, KT Wiz has a significantly stronger offense, so that’s my selection for game two.
Doosan Bears to Beat SSG Landers
I’m this close to simply predicting the opposite of what logic dictates when it comes to games involving the Landers. SSG showed up big time in the opener against the Bears to win and the confidence of the side obviously is very high right now.
The Landers will use Kim Jeong-Bin who has been abysmal so far, while Doosan’s guy is yet to lose a game after three starts. That’s enough for me to pick the Bears for my KBO predictions for Saturday, but be careful with this one.
Samsung Lions to Beat LG Twins
The opening game between the Lions and the Twins was very close, but LG showed unexpected offensive efficiency to prevail against the KBO leaders.
That doesn’t happen too often and almost all wins so far during the season have been thanks to the team’s exceptional defense.
The next game won’t be decided by the pitchers, though, at least if we consider the starters’ stats. Both Lee Seung-Min (Samsung) and Lee Min-Ho (LG) have been shaky this season.
There should be runs in this one, and the Lions are better equipped to find them, so I prefer the KBO leaders on Saturday.
NC Dinos to Beat Kia Tigers
The NC Dinos have been patiently climbing the rankings and they are now second in the KBO. I’m sure that the champions want to the spot above them and beating opponents like the Tigers is a must under such circumstances.
Kia’s struggles continue and the side has only three victories in the last ten games. Next in the rotation is a guy with an 8.18 ERA and the bullpen was destroyed by the Dinos in game one.
It simply doesn’t look good for the Tigers and I fully expect them to lose once again on Saturday.
