KBO Predictions and Analysis – Saturday, June 12 (2021)
Every single game in the previous round of South Korean baseball was very close and could’ve gone either way. The same pairs will meet again in the next round, so we might see more of the same.
The weather should be fine, so I expect a full round of fixtures, and we should see two encounters between the Kia Tigers and the Lotte Giants to make up for yesterday. Here’s the complete list of games for the next round.
- Hanwha Eagles vs. KT Wiz Suwon
- Kia Tigers vs. Lotte Giants (2x)
- NC Dinos vs. Samsung Lions
- Doosan Bears vs. LG Twins
- Kiwoom Heroes vs. SSG Landers
Now, let’s take a look at my KBO predictions for Saturday, June 12.
KT Wiz Suwon to Beat Hanwha Eagles
I picked KT Wiz Suwon in the opening clash against the Eagles, and the favorite did win, but it wasn’t easy by any means. Hanwha’s strong run in the middle innings pushed the game into extra innings, and it could’ve gone either way. Suwon managed to find a single run that was enough at the end.
I believe that the second clash should be much easier for KT Wiz, mostly based on the team news. The starting pitcher of the team is significantly better, and the offense has the upper hand too.
It’s very hard to see how the Eagles can win, especially since they expected to pick a pitcher with five defeats and a 7.18 ERA.
Lotte Giants to Beat Kia Tigers
The opening clash between the Giants and the Tigers on Friday was postponed because of the weather. The latest forecasts suggest that there won’t be problems in the next round, so we should have two encounters between the teams.
I will only cover the first one because we don’t know much about the second clash. Lotte’s offense has been impressive this week, and Kim Yu-Sin has no chance of stopping it.
The Giants might score a bunch, and that’s more than enough for me to back them in my KBO predictions for Saturday.
Samsung Lions to Beat NC Dinos
The NC Dinos will be delighted with the hard-fought victory in the previous round, but the next game should be even harder.
The Samsung Lions are sending Won Tae-In. The pitcher got destroyed by the same opponent earlier in the season, but that’s one of the only two weak performances this campaign. Outside of that, he has seven wins and excellent stats.
The youngster should pressure the reigning champions, and the question is if Shin Min-Hyeok can respond. NC’s pitcher has been solid too, so the defenses might dominate this game.
I think that suits the Lions slightly better, so I’m picking them.
LG Twins to Beat Doosan Bears
I think that might be the hardest game to predict from the upcoming round. The Bears have been shaky recently, and I’m not sure what to expect from them.
The big question mark is LG’s pitcher. Veteran Cha Woo-Chan entered the rotation last week and looked amazing for five innings, but it was his only start so far.
If he can show something similar, I expect another win for the Twins, who have the stronger bullpen as well.
SSG Landers to Beat Kiwoom Heroes
The SSG Landers returned to winning ways on Friday after a hectic victory over the Hears, and I expect another one in the next round.
The favorite has the better pitcher, and the last time An Woo-Jin started for the Heroes against the same opponent, he was completely demolished by Kiwoom’s offense.
The Landers have the means to do the same in the next encounter, too, and their own choice for a pitcher looks way more reliable.
Wilmer Font has three victories in four starts, and his stats suggest he has been solid. Another win is on the cards for Saturday.
