KBO Predictions and Analysis – Saturday, July 3 (2021)
If you’re a fan of South Korean baseball, I have bad news for you. Every single game on the schedule on Saturday is questionable because of the weather.
There’s between a 50% and 60% chance of each one getting canceled because of rain. And yet, some might go through, which is enough of a reason to deliver my KBO predictions for July 3. Here’s a complete list of the fixtures I’ve included.
- Hanwha Eagles vs. LG Twins
- Lotte Giants vs. SSG Landers
- Doosan Bears vs. Kia Tigers
- Kiwoom Heroes vs. KT Wiz Suwon
- Samsung Lions vs. NC Dinos
LG Twins to Beat Hanwha Eagles
I must say I was shocked to see the LG Twins lose the first game against the Eagles. The team’s offense simply collapsed, and the three runs scored in the last innings were nowhere near enough to make up for the bad start.
It was a rare win for the underdog, and it’s interesting to see if it can lead to a good run. I’m afraid the chances are slim because the Twins should have the upper hand in game two.
They are about to start a solid pitcher, and that should be enough to keep a struggling team like the Eagles at bay. On top of that, Hanwha is sending a guy who was destroyed by the Twins once already this season.
All things considered, backing the favorite for my KBO predictions for Saturday is the most sensible option.
SSG Landers to Beat Lotte Giants
Lotte is another team that upset the odds in the previous round of South Korean baseball. After an extra inning, the Giants beat the SSG Landers and will be looking for another victory on July 3.
I expect to see runs for both sides, and the Landers should be able to win this time around. The team has better offensive weapons and simply can’t afford another mistake against a mediocre opponent like Lotte.
Doosan Bears to Kia Tigers
I failed to catch the first two surprising results on Friday, but I did predict this one! The Tigers beat the Bears after a strong offensive performance in the late innings and a decent defense over the course of the game.
I don’t think that Kia’s starting pitcher can deliver the same on Saturday, though. On the bright side for the team, Doosan’s guy has been very shaky too.
I expect plenty of runs in this one, and the Bears are much better at scoring. They should be able to outscore the Tigers and win this clash rather comfortably.
KT Wiz Suwon to Beat Kiwoom Heroes
I predicted a victory for the Heroes in the previous round, and they failed me once again. The offense disappeared, and it may stay hidden on Saturday, too, based on the starting pitchers.
Odrisamer Despaigne is next in Suwon’s rotation, and he has been exceptional so far in 2021. He certainly can keep the opposition quiet and provide a good platform for his offensive teammates.
They will face one of Kiwoom’s decent starters, but I simply can’t trust the team’s bullpen and offense. Backing the KBO leaders is the sensible choice in this one, especially if you account for the recent form and H2H record this season.
Samsung Lions to Beat NC Dinos
As I expected, the Samsung Lions were too strong for the opposition and won on Friday. Predicting the next game will be much harder, though, because there’s one big question mark.
The problem is that many players of a similar profile struggle early on. And yet, I’m going to take a risk with Montgomery and back him against the Dinos. It feels like the reigning champions are way too inconsistent still, so another defeat makes sense.
