KBO Predictions with Analysis – Friday, June 25 (2021)
We have three more rounds of South Korean baseball action this week and the first of them is scheduled for Friday. With the latest series done, the teams will face new opponents over the remainder of the week.
I cover the opening fixtures in my KBO predictions for June 25 that include team news and stats for the following games.
- Kia Tigers vs. Kiwoom Heroes
- KT Wiz Suwon vs. Hanwha Eagles
- LG Twins vs. Samsung Lions
- Lotte Giants vs. Doosan Bears
- SSG Landers vs. NC Dinos
Kiwoom Heroes to Beat Kia Tigers
A quick comparison between the league position and the form of the two sides strongly suggests that the Kiwoom Heroes enter this clash as the favorite.
The team won four of the last five KBO encounters and is still desperately trying to get closer to the playoff positions, while the Tigers are way behind.
The starting lineups don’t help Kia either, as the team is expected to send a pitcher with exactly 10.00 ERA. The defense is going to get punished and I’m not sure if the offense can help either.
The Tigers don’t score much and they are about to face a decent pitcher like Jake Brigham, so it looks like the Heroes have all the advantages in this clash.
KT Wiz Suwon to Beat Hanwha Eagles
This should be one of the easier KBO games to predict, but based on some of the results this week, I don’t think any game is clear.
The starting lineups for Friday suggest that Hanwha doesn’t have much of a chance to stop the rot. Both sides are expected to send unreliable pitchers, but Suwon’s mighty offense has more means to take full advantage of every mistake made. That’s why I prefer to back the favorite in my KBO predictions for June 25.
LG Twins to Beat Samsung Lions
The clash at the top of the standings is really hard to predict and there’s certainly no obvious winner in the game between the LG Twins and the Samsung Lions.
They are expected to send some of their strongest pitchers, so the starting lineups are not helping either. The Lions have been stronger this week, but they faced easier competition and the Twins have the upper hand in the H2H record in 2021.
It will be close, but I think that LG’s defense should be able to hold on and deliver a victory on Friday.
Doosan Bears to Beat Lotte Giants
The Bears are flirting with danger and might very well miss on the playoffs this season, unless they improve dramatically right now.
The team has a good chance to register a successful series against a struggling opponent like the Lotte Giants and the starting pitchers for the first game favor Doosan too.
The Bears should start Walker Lockett who’s been among the best players in the league in this position, while Lotte’s pick Dan Straily has been shaky.
If you add Doosan’s advantage on the offensive end, it looks like the Bears should easily win game one on Friday.
NC Dinos to Beat SSG Landers
I would normally back the SSG Landers in this one, based on league position and recent form. The team has been solid and still has a shot at the top spot of the KBO standings.
And yet, the Landers will send a veteran pitcher who is yet to play in 2021 on the field against one of the best offensive squads in the entire league.
It’s hard to see how Shin Jae-Young can stop the reigning champions, while NC’s choice is Shin Min-Hyeok who’s been decent this season.
The Landers’ offense can always surprise the opposition, but the sensible choice here is to back the NC Dinos in my KBO predictions for Friday.
