KBO Predictions and Analysis – Friday, June 11 (2021)
Some KBO teams desperately need a bit of a change, and they will get it on Friday. New series are about to start in South Korean baseball, but there are some question marks over the weather.
The forecasts suggest that two of the matches might be postponed, so that’s something to consider if you want to bet on Korean baseball.
Most fixtures should still go through, and you can find my KBO predictions for the following games in this post.
- Hanwha Eagles vs. KT Wiz Suwon
- Kia Tigers vs. Lotte Giants
- NC Dinos vs. Samsung Lions
- Doosan Bears vs. LG Twins
- Kiwoom Heroes vs. SSG Landers
KT Wiz Suwon to Beat Hanwha Eagles
I believe that this clash will be closer than the league positions of both sides suggest. KT Wiz Suwon just beat the SSG Landers twice, so the team has a lot of momentum.
And yet, the Eagles had some good moments of their own this week, and they have proven they can be a tricky opponent when they are close to their best.
Both teams are expected to use decent pitchers, and the big question here is if teenager Kim Ki-Joong can deliver a strong performance for the Eagles.
The rookie was excellent in his debut versus the best offense in the league, so the potential is there. And yet, he’s unlikely to play for more than 4 innings, and his team might struggle after that. KT Wiz Suwon has the offensive weapons to capitalize on that.
Lotte Giants to Beat Kia Tigers
This is one of the games that might be postponed because of the weather. If the clash does go through, it might be a wild one.
The offenses of both the Giants and the Tigers will likely have a field day, and I won’t be shocked if we see a ton of runs in this clash.
That certainly favors Lotte based on what we saw from the team this week. The Giants scored 31 runs against the Bears, who have a stronger defense than the Tigers. That’s enough for me to back them in my KBO predictions for Friday, June 11.
NC Dinos to Beat Samsung Lions
That’s the other questionable encounter on Friday, and the Lions probably will be happier if it’s postponed.
The team has been shaky this week, losing twice to the Kia Tigers, who are the third-worst squad in South Korean baseball.
The Dinos had their struggles too, but they came against the KBO leaders, and they have a slightly stronger starting pitcher for the opener. Song Myung-Gi has two victories and three defeats, while Samsung’s guy is yet to win a game.
Choi Chae-Heung has a 7.82 ERA, and I simply don’t trust him to stop one of the best offenses in the country. That’s why I’m picking the Dinos in this one.
LG Twins to Beat Doosan Bears
It looks like the LG Twins have found some balance recently, and their offense has improved, while their defense has remained exceptional.
The team is currently on top of the KBO table and just won two of the three games against the reigning champions NC Dinos.
LG’s confidence is sky-high right now, and the team is about to send Andrew Suarez to pitch on Friday. He’s arguably one of the standout players in the league this season with 7 victories and awesome stats.
I don’t think that the Bears, in their current condition, can cope with the Twins, so I have to go for LG.
SSG Landers to Beat Kiwoom Heroes
The Landers will be eager to bounce back after losing twice against KT Wiz this week, and the series against the Heroes represents an excellent opportunity to get back on track.
The offense is inefficient, and the defense allows too many runs. The Landers have all means required to punish the opposition, and that’s what I expect to see time and time again on Friday.
