KBO Predictions and Analysis – Friday, August 27 (2021)

I think I managed to jinx the weather in my previous post with KBO predictions! After sunny skies and six completed games on Thursday, it looks like the rain will be back on Friday.

Three games are under a serious threat, so the upcoming round might feature anywhere between two and five games. I cover all fixtures on the schedule with my predictions, just in case! Let’s take a look at them.

The Kiwoom Heroes somehow managed to draw a game against the last-placed team in the league that was using one of its worst pitchers.

This squad never ceases to amaze me, but not in a good way.

They really need to win the next clash against the Eagles, and they should be able to this time around. Jeong Chan-heon is next in the rotation, and he already has seven wins this season, including a victory against the upcoming opponent.

He can contain the Eagles, and it’s time for the offense to step up. The Heroes will face Ryan Carpenter, who’s usually decent, but he got destroyed by Kiwoom’s batters twice in 2021 already.

I once again feel obliged to back the Heroes, but I would recommend being careful if you want to bet on the KBO. This team can always surprise you.

The previous game between the two sides was close and ended in a draw. It’s hard to separate them in the next one either, at least based on the team news.

Both sides are expected to use decent but unspectacular pitchers like Enderson Franco for Giants (4.41 ERA) and Im Gi-yeong for the Tigers (4.52).

I wouldn’t trust too much any of them and both sides’ form has been comparable recently. This one could go either way, but I feel that the Tigers might have the mental edge. They came back from two runs down in the previous round, so I’m picking them in my KBO predictions for Friday.

The reigning champions were beaten twice by the same opponent on Thursday. That puts their postseason spot in danger, and they need to respond.

At the same time, NC’s offense has been unreliable, and it looks like the Bears have their number.

All things considered, it feels like backing the Bears for another victory is the sensible choice.

The KBO leaders are on fire right now, and we saw that once again in the previous clash against the Landers. KT Wiz Suwon scored ten runs to demolish the opposition, and another prolific performance might be on the cards for the next clash.

Sam Gaviglio will be expected to stop KT Wiz, and I don’t think that’s possible. The pitcher lost each of his three KBO games so far and conceded 17 runs in the process.

Suwon’s offense can destroy him, while Ko Young-pyo will ensure that the Landers won’t respond. The pitcher has excellent stats, and I expect another victory for his side.

The LG Twins clinched a crucial victory against the same opponent in the previous round. The Lions had the better starter but failed to capitalize, and the gap to the second place got bigger.

The team should have another good chance to get close to the Twins on Friday. LG’s starter Lee Min-ho is one of the side’s more inconsistent pitchers, while Won Tae-in is next for the Lions.

He has been exceptional this season and didn’t concede even a single run the last time he met the Twins. I believe he can lead his team to another victory, so I prefer the Lions in my KBO predictions for August 27.
