KBO Predictions and Analysis – Friday, August 13 (2021)

Let’s hope that we have better luck with the weather for the next round of South Korean baseball after two games were postponed on Thursday. And yet, it’s Friday the 13^th, so can we really expect that?

On a more serious note, the weather forecasts are favorable for now, and we should have five games. This post includes my KBO predictions for all of the fixtures below.

The SSG Landers desperately need a victory that would break their negative run, but I’m not sure the team is in a good position to find it on Friday.

Sam Gaviglio is expected to start, and he was demolished in his only two games so far, allowing a bunch of runs to the opponents.

I don’t expect him to contain the Tigers either, especially since the team has been excellent recently. The offense is working well, and Kia’s starter Daniel Mengden has been decent in 2021.

The 6-2 lead in the head-to-head record this season is the only positive for the Landers, but I don’t think it helps. I believe that the Tigers can continue their unbeaten streak on Friday, even if the game is relatively close.

I will probably surprise a lot of people with my next KBO prediction because the LG Twins have been phenomenal recently. The team is leading the league and just beat the Landers twice since the return of the competition from the Olympic break.

Im Chan-kyu is about the lead LG on Friday, and this could be a problem. He has three defeats from four starts on abysmal stats.

Lotte’s Park Se-woong is certainly the better pitcher in this clash, and I think he can help the Giants win on August 13.

The NC Dinos just earned a dramatic victory over the Lotte Giants, which should boost their morale. The reigning champions have a great opportunity to start a winning run because they face the last-placed Hanwha Eagles next.

And yet, I think that the underdog actually has the upper hand in this clash. Hanwha is expected to send Kim Min-woo, who has been the team’s best pitcher in 2021 with nine wins already.

He can keep the Dinos quiet, while Lee Jae-hak is next in NC’s rotation. He was already destroyed by the same opponent earlier in the season, and his overall stats don’t look good.

I believe that the Eagles will enter the late innings with a lead, and unless NC’s offense explodes, later on, Hanwha should win this one.

This is probably the toughest game to predict on Friday for various reasons.

Kiwoom just beat the former KBO leaders KT Wiz three times in a row, and that’s a great indicator of where the team is heading right now.

At the same time, the Doosan Bears are expected to send Choi Won-joon out there. The pitcher has seven wins from eight starts, including a victory over the Heroes earlier in the season.

It’s really hard to bet against him, which is why I prefer the Bears in my KBO predictions for August 13.

Another game that could go either way, especially if you look at the starting pitchers. Both David Buchanan and Odrisamer Despaigne have been great this season, so I don’t expect many runs in this clash.

And yet, the American has been slightly better, and the Lions have looked stronger since the KBO restart, while KT Wiz lost all three of their games this week.

That’s enough for me to back Samsung, but I’m not too confident in that prediction.
