KBO Predictions and Analysis – Friday, September 10 (2021)
We saw a few wild games in the previous round of South Korean baseball. I’m sure some teams will be eager to get back on the field looking for revenge on Friday.
The weather should be fine, so they will get their chance! I share my thoughts on all upcoming fixtures in my KBO predictions for September 10. Here’s a full list of the games included.
- Hanwha Eagles vs. LG Twins
- Kia Tigers vs. Kiwoom Heroes
- KT Wiz Suwon vs. Samsung Lions
- Doosan Bears vs. NC Dinos
- SSG Landers vs. Lotte Giants
LG Twins to Beat Hanwha Eagles
I genuinely thought the Eagles could surprise the Twins in the previous round, but the match was over before it started. LG’s offense delivered six runs in the opening inning, and the opposition never recovered from the shock.
I’m not sure the Eagles can expect a lot from the upcoming meeting against Lee Min-ho. LG’s youngster completely shut them down three times already this season, and I believe he can do the same again on Friday.
On top of that, the Twins have the best bullpen in the country, and they should have more than enough to beat the Eagles.
Kiwoom Heroes to Beat Kia Tigers
It was tougher than expected, but the Kiwoom Heroes managed to overcome the Kia Tigers on Thursday. Another victory in the next round is crucial for the team’s ambitions, and I’m sure that the fans will be glad to see Eric Jokisch in the starting lineup.
The American has been excellent this year and already has two victories against the same opponent. He knows how to stop the Tigers, and that’s only one of Kia’s issues.
Im Gi-yeong is next in the squad’s rotation, and he’s been shaky all season long. I don’t think he can stop the Heroes, so I prefer backing Kiwoom in my KBO predictions for Friday.
KT Wiz Suwon to Beat Samsung Lions
The opening clash between these two teams featured so many twists and turns that predicting the next one feels like mission impossible!
KT Wiz got an early lead before the Lions scored four runs in the sixth to turn it around. The league leaders responded in style and had a 7-5 when the opposition got the chance to bat for one last time.
The problem is that KT Wiz is starting the stronger pitcher. Um Sang-back has been solid since entering the rotation, while Mike Montgomery has struggled since joining South Korean baseball. He gave up six runs in four and a half innings against the same opponent late in August, so it’s hard to trust him.
It could be another close clash, but I prefer picking KT Wiz Suwon here.
Doosan Bears to Beat NC Dinos
The Bears crushed the Dinos in the previous round, improving their head-to-head record against the champions to 7-4. Doosan’s offense looked unstoppable, while NC’s batters failed to deliver.
We might see a similar picture on Friday. The reliable Walker Lockett will pitch for the Bears, while the Dinos will have to use Song Myung-gi, who was beaten twice by the same opponent already in 2021.
His overall stats are hard to look at as well, so Doosan’s excellent offense should have plenty of chances to score.
SSG Landers to Beat Lotte Giants
I feel relatively confident in the rest of my KBO predictions, but this encounter is really tough to call. I mean, there’s a good argument that the Landers are the stronger team, and they have a more prolific offense.
At the same time, they have been very inconsistent, and the two teams are going to use comparable pitchers if you look at their stats throughout the season. Lotte’s starter is on a four-game winning streak, though, and he has allowed only three runs in 28 innings since July.
That was almost enough for me to pick the Giants, but SSG’s starter has been decent in 2021, too, and I think the team can still win.
