KBO Predictions and Analysis – Saturday, September 4 (2021)
I must admit that some of the KBO results in the previous round caught me by surprise. The league remains extremely hard to predict because the teams are so close to each other in terms of quality.
That makes betting on South Korean baseball both risky and rewarding. If you want help with your wagers for the next round, you should check my KBO predictions for Saturday, September 4. I cover the following fixtures.
- Kia Tigers vs. Hanwha Eagles
- KT Wiz Suwon vs. LG Twins
- Lotte Giants vs. NC Dinos
- Doosan Bears vs. Samsung Lions
- SSG Landers vs. Kiwoom Heroes
Hanwha Eagles to Beat Kia Tigers
The clash between the Hanwha Eagles and the Kia Tigers shouldn’t impact the KBO final standings, at least when it comes to the postseason.
And yet, that doesn’t seem to affect their morale too much. The Eagles, especially, have been tough to beat recently, and their offense has been better than expected.
The team is expected to send one of its best pitchers in Kim Min-woo on Saturday, and he can certainly slow down the opposition. On top of that, Kia’s starter has been shaky for most of the season.
It should be a close one, but I believe that the Eagles should have the upper hand.
KT Wiz Suwon to Beat LG Twins
All eyes will be on this one on Saturday. The top sides in the league face each other, and it should be a cracking game.
The Twins managed to cut the lead of KT Wiz recently, but Suwon’s confidence should be high after a convincing victory over the Kiwoom Heroes on Thursday.
The leaders were a bit off offensively in the past couple of weeks, but scoring nine in the last game shows that they might be back to their best.
That’s bad news for LG’s projected starter Son Ju-young. The youngster was far from convincing in August, and I don’t think he can stop KT Wiz.
At the same time, the league leaders are expected to rely on one of their best pitchers. Ko Young-pyo has an 8-4 record on solid stats. He should be able to contain the Twins, and if the offense delivers, KT Wiz should win this clash.
NC Dinos to Beat Lotte Giants
The NC Dinos just earned a crucial victory that should boost the team’s morale. The reigning champions scored five late runs to turn it around and beat a strong opponent like the LG Twins after falling behind early on.
They have an excellent opportunity to continue their winning run against the struggling Giants.
I don’t think that Park Se-woong would be able to keep the champs quiet on Saturday either, so I’m backing the Dinos in my KBO predictions for September 4.
Samsung Lions to Beat Doosan Bears
The team news for this game suggests that we’re going to see a lot of runs. Both teams are sending pitchers that have been abysmal this season, and they both have the offensive weapons to punish the opposition.
Mike Montgomery has a 7.15 ERA so far, and while Gwak Been’s stats are slightly better, he was punished by the Lions last time he pitched against them.
This one could go either way, but I prefer to pay respect to Samsung’s consistency. The Lions have been the better team, and I expect them to show it.
SSG Landers to Beat Kiwoom Heroes
After a tough August, the SSG Landers look reborn in September, and they managed to return in the top 5 of the KBO standings. They overtook a few teams, and the Kiwoom Heroes were among them.
It’s clear to me that the Landers have been more consistent recently, and they have a slight advantage in the H2H history of the clash in 2021.
The starting pitchers are comparable, so I think that recent form should be the main factor here. The Landers have been stronger, and that’s enough for me.
