Juventus vs. Porto – Champions League, March 9, 2021

Porto visits the Allianz Stadium on Tuesday, March 9, carrying an unexpected 2-1 lead into the second leg of their Champions League Round of 16 tie against Juventus.
Of course, Juventus is expected to overturn the deficit and advance. But can the Portuguese champions upset the odds and knock the Italian giant out of the UCL on Tuesday?
Keep reading to see my Juventus vs. Porto prediction and betting pick.
Juventus vs. Porto Odds
As expected, the leading online betting sites are backing Juventus (1.41) to win the second leg. Despite holding the advantage, Porto (7.25) is viewed as the clear outsider here.
Let’s not forget that a goalless draw would see Porto progress, while a 2-1 win for Juventus would force the tie into extra-time. With that in mind, the big price for the draw (4.75) looks tasty!
Juventus vs. Porto Preview
It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that Juventus completely dominated the first leg.
Andrea Pirlo’s side finished the game with 66% possession and managed to register 12 shots. But following goals from Mehdi Taremi and Moussa Marega, a late Federico Chiesa strike meant that Juve left Portugal with a 2-1 loss.
Since then, the Bianconeri has picked up three wins and one draw in Serie A, scoring exactly three goals in each of their last three victories.
Pirlo’s men beat Crotone and Spezia without conceding a goal before beating Lazio 3-1 on Saturday. Cristiano Ronaldo has netted five goals in his last six league games, while Alvaro Morata bagged a brace in the win over Lazio.
Still, there is no denying that the Old Lady is struggling this season. Juventus sits seven points behind frontrunner Inter Milan in the Italian top-flight, while qualification for the Champions League quarter-finals is by no means certain.
Porto took the lead inside two minutes in the first leg, before Marega added the second goal right after half-time. Despite facing a barrage of attempts throughout the match, Sergio Conceicao’s side only ended up conceding one goal.
Since the first leg, the Dragons have remained unbeaten in Liga NOS. They picked up relatively straightforward wins over Maritimo and Gil Vicente, as well as a handy goalless draw against league-leader Sporting.
However, Porto was knocked out of the Taca de Portugal last week, losing 3-2 to Braga in the semi-finals.
Like Juventus, Conceicao’s men aren’t having it all their own way in their domestic league. In fact, given the mammoth ten-point gap between them and Sporting, they have probably conceded defeat in the Primeira Liga title race this season.
But having already shown that they are capable of beating one of the Champions League favorites this term, Porto will travel to Turin with confidence.
Juventus vs. Porto Pick
-
Juventus to Win1.41
Porto stunned everyone by securing a shock 2-1 win in the first leg, despite Juventus creating plenty of goalscoring opportunities. This time around, I’m expecting the Italians to take their chances and get the job done.
We all know that Pirlo’s men are enduing a tricky season, at least by their own high standards. But with Ronaldo and Morata leading the line, it is difficult to imagine Juve slipping up in consecutive games against Porto.
