Jennifer Brady vs. Naomi Osaka – US Open, September 10, 2020

| September 10, 2020 12:31 am PDT

If I told you that a certain player would reach the 2020 US Open semifinals without losing a single set or even coming close to it, you would probably think about Naomi Osaka, Serena Williams, or one of the other top seeds in the tournament.

And yet, Jennifer Brady is the one that has dominated the competition in a stunning fashion. The American is about to face her biggest challenge yet in Naomi Osaka. The Japanese had some problems early on, but has looked very strong in the past couple of rounds.

I share my thoughts on the upcoming clash in this Jennifer Brady vs. Naomi Osaka betting preview. The post features the latest odds and lines, analysis of both sides, my prediction, and a free betting pick.

The Jennifer Brady vs. Naomi Osaka odds you see above are offered by BetOnline, one of my favorite betting sites. As you can see, the sportsbook views the Japanese star as the big favorite in this clash, despite Brady’s insane run so far.

Jennifer Brady Current Form and Analysis

A quick look at Jennifer Brady’s career shows that her best performance in a Grand Slam tournament before the US Open 20202 was reaching the fourth round twice in 2017. She didn’t make it through the second round in the next three years.

That’s when she exploded to reach the first semifinal of her career and I bet she’s hungry for more! Brady demolished everyone along the way, including three seeded players. Caroline Garcia, Angelique Kerber, and Yulia Punitseva were no match for the American, among others.

The most impressive part is that no opponent so far has managed to win more than four games in a single set against Brady. She’s been in devastating form and her confidence will be sky-high before the match against Osaka.

Naomi Osaka Current Form and Analysis

I had my doubts about Naomi Osaka’s form after I saw her go the distance against players like Misaki Doi and Marta Kostyuk in the early rounds of the 2020 US Open. That’s when the Japanese switched to another gear to destroy Annett Kontaveit and Shelby Rogers.

Osaka is back to her aggressive self and she has been excellent in the past two matches. And yet, she only faced one seeded player so far. She hasn’t been truly tested outside of the Kontaveit clash and I believe that’s about to change.

On the bright side, Osaka gave her best performance against the Estonian and served like a beast to close the match without giving her opponent even a single breakpoint.

Brady vs. Osaka Prediction and Betting Pick

I’m tempted to back Jennifer Brady in this one because of the high odds. And yet, Osaka is the more talented player and she has more experience on this level. That’s why I prefer to go for the over 21.5 games option available at -111.

I expect a long and gruesome fight that could very well be decided after three sets. Even if there are only two of them, I won’t be shocked to see a tiebreak which is the reason I like this pick a lot.
