Jaume Munar vs. Stefanos Tsitsipas Betting Preview – French Open, September 29, 2020
The opening round of the 2020 French Open already brought us some close clash and several seeded players are out both in the men’s and the women’s singles. There also new balls that don’t spin as much and the weather is unusually cold for the Rolland-Garros because of the late start.
The 2020 edition is something else and I believe that could lead to lots of surprises in Paris. The big names have to be careful and one of them certainly is Stefanos Tsitsipas. He’s a huge favorite against Jaume Munar, but I don’t think that the Spaniard is an easy opponent for the first round.
I explain why in this Jaume Munar vs. Stefanos Tsitsipas betting preview. The post includes the latest odds, my prediction, and a free betting pick.
Munar vs. Tsitsipas Odds
The Jaume Munar vs. Stefanos Tsitsipas odds offered by the best tennis betting sites shows how the bookies expect a one-sided clash. The Greek star is naturally the big favorite here, but I wonder if the difference is really that big.
Jaume Munar Player Profile
As most Spanish players, Jaume Munar loves clay courts and this is arguably his best surface. Most of his success has come on red courts and his only victory over a top 10 opponent also happened on clay.
On the other hand, the youngster is yet to record a solid run in the French Open. He won one match in 2018 but was eliminated in the opener in 2019. The draw this year hasn’t been kind either, so Munar might have to wait for at least another edition of the Roland-Garros before finding a big break.
Expecting a win against Tsitsipas might be unrealistic, but putting him under a lot of pressure is not out of the question. The Greek player just arrived in Paris after reaching the final of the German Open and he hasn’t been that’s successful in the French Open either.
If you add that fact that Munar kept it close in their only encounter so far two years ago, the match could have some twists and turns.
Stefanos Tsitsipas Player Profile
There were plenty of concerns about Tsitsipas’ preparation for the 2020 French Open. He was knocked from the US Open early, but then played in the Italian Open and the German Open before the Roland-Garros.
The Greek athlete even reached the final of the second tournament and had almost no time to rest before going to Paris. The player himself stated that he is not worried, but I’m not so sure.
I believe that Tsitsipas might be a bit off his best in the opening round and while he should be strong enough to beat Munar, it could be harder than most people think.
Jaume Munar vs. Stefanos Tsitsipas Betting Pick
The odds of the betting sides suggest that Tsitsipas should be able to close this one in three quick sets. I believe that Munar could put up a fight, so the price of -111 for the match to go over 30.5 games looks solid.
