Indianapolis Colts vs. Tennessee Titans – NFL Week 10, 2020
We’re already in the second half of the 2020 NFL season, and Week 10 kicks off with the AFC South showdown between the Indianapolis Colts and Tennessee Titans on Thursday Night Football.
These two foes are battling for the AFC South title, and their first meeting of the season will have a lot on the table for each team. I’ve prepared the best Colts vs. Titans betting pick, so let’s take a closer look.
Colts vs. Titans Odds
The 6-2 Titans are toping the AFC South at the moment, but the 5-3 Colts are right behind them. Still, the Titans are 2-0 in the divisional play, while the Colts are 0-1, making the stake in this one even bigger.
Last season, the Colts and Titans split their regular-season series, as each side was victorious on the road. The Titans dismantled the Colts 31-17 in Indianapolis, but the Colts outlasted the Titans 19-17 as 3-point underdogs in Nashville.
Indianapolis Colts Analysis
After two straight wins over Cincinnati 31-27 and Detroit 41-21, the Colts suffered a tough 24-10 home loss to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 9.
It was another poor performance by the veteran QB Philip Rivers who completed only 25 of his 43 passing attempts for 227 yards and one interception. Jonathan Taylor’s fumble was returned for a TD, so it’s safe to say that Indy struggled mightily against the Ravens’ aggressive defense.
The Colts are scoring 26.0 points per game (15th in the NFL). Their offensive line allowed the fewest sacks in the league (8), but the Colts are racking up just 102.4 rushing yards per contest (23rd), while Rivers’ decision making has been questionable for most of the season.
At least, the Colts’ defense has done a great job thus far, allowing 20.0 points per game (3rd) on 83.6 rushing yards (also 3rd) and 206.4 passing yards (also 3rd in the NFL).
Tennessee Titans Analysis
The Titans snapped a two-game skid in Week 9, easily outlasting the Chicago Bears 24-17 as 6-point home favorites. They had a massive 21-point lead late in the fourth quarter, allowing the Bears to score a couple of consolation touchdowns.
Tennessee finally put on a strong defensive performance, though the Bears are one of the worst offensive teams in the league. The Titans yielded just 56 rushing yards, but their secondary fell apart down the stretch, allowing Nick Foles to improve his stats.
After the first nine weeks, the Titans are 16th in points allowed per game (25.1) and 25th in total yards per game (394.1). Tennessee is scoring 29.0 points in a return (7th) on 384.6 total yards (10th).
Derrick Henry ran for just 68 yards against the Bears and will have another difficult assignment against the Colts in Week 10. He surpassed a 100-yard line on the ground in four of his eight outings this term.
Colts vs. Titans Betting Pick
The Colts have dominated the Titans over the last ten years. Indy is 14-3 straight up and 13-4 ATS in its last 17 encounters with Tennessee. Also, the Colts have won seven of their last eight road matchups with the Titans, covering six times in the process.
I would stick with the betting trends and take the Colts to cover but only after buying a couple of points. This should be a very tight clash decided by one possession down the stretch, so backing the Colts to cover a 3.5-point spread seems like a reasonable choice.
Indy has enough firepower on the defensive end to cope with any team in the league including the reigning AFC vice-champs. The Colts’ offense will be an issue, but I hope Philip Rivers will bounce back against the Titans’ struggling secondary.
