Week 5 ends with a matchup between a pair of AFC clubs. Baltimore has caught fire in recent weeks, as they enter on a three-game winning streak.

Since losing on Monday Night Football in their opener at Las Vegas, the Ravens have picked it up on both sides of the ball.

The Colts are a franchise that had playoff aspirations entering the season, and they just picked up their first victory over the Dolphins. Luckily, the AFC South is a division that will be there for the taking if Indianapolis can get on a winning streak.

Baltimore has played well as home favorites of seven-plus points. They have covered and won outright in their last six games. As touchdown-plus favorites, Baltimore has won 12 of their past 13 outright at home.

Indianapolis has lost seven of their past eight regular-season games in which they are a road underdog of at least seven points. They have covered only three of them, but one was against Baltimore in 2017.

Lamar Jackson is off to a great start in 2021. Baltimore has covered once this season, and it was a home underdog to Kansas City. It was the second time Lamar was a home underdog, and they won outright.

The Ravens are 11-10 against the spread in the 21 home contests under Lamar, but they are 12-3 straight up if you’re looking for value on the moneyline. Why the Colts Will Win

Indianapolis finally picked up their first victory of the season. It came against the Dolphins in a road game the Colts dominated on both sides of the ball. They pinned their ears back and harassed Jacoby Brissett, sacking him three times and forcing a fumble for good measure.

All-world linebacker Darius Leonard recovered a fumble and led the way with eight tackles, one of which was for a loss.

The Indy defense will have a great night if they force Jackson into a few critical mistakes.

Their secondary has struggled against solid passing attacks. Defending in open space against Marquise Brown will be vital. They should spy on Jackson and limit his rushing ability when he scrambles on passing plays.

What makes Baltimore so challenging to prepare for is what they can methodically do in their run-pass option execution. If Jackson gets the edge, he could be gone for a house call.

Leonard is one of the fastest linebackers that can roam the sidelines as well as any player. DeForest Buckner in the trenches is another player that can turn this game into their favor.

Carson Wentz at quarterback will need to find Zach Pascal, Michael Pittman Jr., and Mo Allie-Cox in the red zone. Any possessions in which they settle for three points will cost them dearly.

Luckily, MPJ has turned some heads the past few weeks and is electric when he has the ball in his hands. Taking care of the ball and winning the turnover battle are the keys. If they find a way to execute in the red zone, the Colts could pull off one of the better upsets of the Week 5 slate.

Why the Ravens Will Win

Lamar Jackson has a 2-2 record on Monday Night Football with nearly 400 yards rushing and over 650 yards passing.

The Raven signal-caller has been electric with the ball in his hands. The Colts have a weakness. Defending the pass has been a vulnerability. They allowed six passing touchdowns in the opening weeks to Russell Wilson and Matthew Stafford.

Hollywood Brown has been remarkable this season. While he had a miserable performance in their narrow victory over Detroit, he has made up for it. The 49-yard home run ball he connected with Lamar was a thing of beauty.

The speed is flawless for the former Oklahoma Sooner, and he has been able to run underneath most of the passes Jackson has threaded. Getting in open space or behind the defense is vital to the success of Baltimore.

These two have built a bond on the field that has given them a chance to become a Super Bowl contender. Winning the AFC North will be a challenge, but their passing attack looks like one of the more productive units in the AFC.

What was once a weakness has now turned into a strength. The Ravens are looking to turn the page and become a complete offensive squad on national TV.

Colts vs. Ravens Prediction

This AFC Monday Night Football matchup should be an entertaining one that comes down to the wire. Wentz and Jackson will be the focus, but the pieces around them will decide the outcome. The development of the Baltimore passing attack will prove to be the difference.

The Ravens are the more explosive team.

The defense will be prepared to limit Jonathan Taylor and avoid getting run over by the former Badger. Baltimore has the top kicker in the game if this comes down to a last-second kick.

Colts vs. Ravens Pick

  • Ravens to Win

The public has sided with the points and taken the Colts early in the week, but it should be close. The Ravens are the more talented squad, and there is value on them at the moneyline price of -325.

Baltimore is coming off a week where they ran the ball against Denver in the closing seconds to reach their 100-yard plateau. This franchise will contend for most of the season and is too lethal to disappoint with their current momentum. Take Baltimore to win this one outright.
