Indiana Grand Race Course Picks – Wednesday, September 30, 2020

Indiana Grand Race Course features two stakes races among the ten thoroughbred matches scheduled for Wednesday: The City of Anderson Stakes and the Hillsdale Stakes, each of which offers a purse worth $75,000.

Let’s get right to my Indiana Grand betting picks and tips for Wednesday.

Picks for Indiana Grand Race Course Race 6

This is a maiden special weight race for Indiana-bred fillies and mares three years old and upward running a distance of 5-1/2 furlongs for a purse of $33,000.

I’m backing the 8/5 morning line favorite in this race—D D Seven Thirty, with Emmanuel Esquivel in the irons. This three-year-old filly finished in the money for one of her three career starts, which—in this field—moves her to the top of the list.

As far as value bets go, while there are a number of longshots in this ten-horse race, the longest I odds I see that would justify the risk are 15/1, and that’s for a show ticket on R Speed Dial, with veteran jockey Fernando De La Cruz aboard. This three-year-old filly came in fifth for her single career start, but this is a slightly shorter run than that, and De La Cruz could help her turn this into her first payday.

  • Win: D D Seven Thirty 8/5
  • Show: R Speed Dial 15/1

Picks for Indiana Grand Race Course Race 7

This is the City of Anderson Stakes, a race for Indiana-bred two-year-old fillies running a distance of six furlongs for a purse of $75,000.

I’m going with the second-favored (4/1) entry in this stakes race—Hungarian Princess, with Samuel E. Bermudez aboard. This filly finished ahead of the morning line favorite back in August, and I don’t see any reason why that won’t happen again. For the record, she broke her maiden in that same first career start, and about a month later finished fourth in a seven-horse allowance race.

There are a few long-odds entries in this race, but none I’d be willing to wager on.

  • Win: Hungarian Princess 4/1

Pick for Indiana Grand Race Course Race 8

This is the Hillsdale Stakes, a race for Indiana-bred two-year-olds running a distance of six furlongs for a purse of $75,000.

I’m sticking with the 8/5 morning line favorite in this race—Betsdownletsride, ridden by Emmanuel Esquivel. This gelding won both of his career starts.

There are two 30/1 longshots in this match, but I don’t think either of them would be a smart investment, even for a show ticket.

  • Win: Betsdownletsride 8/5
