Indiana Grand Race Course Picks – Wednesday, October 28, 2020

| October 27, 2020 2:42 pm PDT

Indiana Grand Race Course has it all for us today, maiden, allowance, and claiming matches—even a quarter horse race—but what I’m covering here today are the headliners at Indiana Grand today: Four ungraded stakes races that feature competing thoroughbreds, all of which were born in Indiana and sired by Indiana stallions.

Read on for my Indiana Grand Race Course picks for Wednesday, October 28, 2020.

Picks for Indiana Grand Race Course Race 7

This is the Indiana Stallion Fillies Stakes, a race for Indiana-bred and -sired two-year-old fillies running a distance of six furlongs for a purse of $75,000.

I’m sticking with the 2/5 morning line favorite here—Hungarian Princess, with Samuel Bermudez in the irons. This filly finished in the money two of her three career starts.

At 20/1, I like American Rules, with Thomas Pompell aboard, for a value show bet. This filly moneyed three of her four career starts. In fact, you might consider her for an across the board wager.

  • Win: Hungarian Princess 2/5
  • Show/Across the Board: American Rules 20/1

Picks for Indiana Grand Race Course Race 9

This is the Lady Fog Horn Stakes, a race for Indiana-bred and -sired fillies and mares three years old and upward running a distance of 1-1/16 miles for a purse of $100,000.

My money’s on the second-favored (4/1) entry in this stakes race—Unbridled Class, with Rodney Prescott aboard. This five-year-old mare finished in the money 22 of her 26 career starts, winning 11 of them.

At 30/1, I have to like Prescience, with Santo Sanjur in the irons, for a value show ticket. This four-year-old filly moneyed all three of her career starts, winning two. Across the board? Not for me, but I’m not the boss of you.

  • Win: Unbridled Class 4/1
  • Show: Prescience 30/1

Pick for Indiana Grand Race Course Race 10

This is the Crown Ambassador Stakes, a race for Indiana-bred and -sired two-year-olds running a distance of six furlongs for a purse of $75,000.

Okay, I’ll stick with the 1/5 morning line favorite here—Betsdownletsride, with Emmanuel Esquivel aboard. This gelding won all three of his career starts.

Oddly, there are three 30/1 longshots in this eight-horse race. Odder still, none of them looks to finish in the money.

  • Win: Betsdownletsride 1/5

Picks for Indiana Grand Race Course Race 11

This is the Unreachable Star Stakes, a race for Indiana-bred and -sired three-year-olds and upward running a distance of 1-1/16 miles for a purse of $100,000.

I have to agree with the morning line here and buy a win ticket for the 1/1 morning line favorite—Unbridled Beast, ridden by Rodney Prescott. This three-year-old gelding moneyed all five of his career starts, winning four of them. And yes, he’s the half-brother of Unbridled Class–my pick for the Lady Fog Horn Stakes (race 9).

At 30/1, I have to buy a bargain show ticket for Forwhomthebelltoll, with Thomas Pompell aboard. This four-year-old gelding moneyed three of his five career starts, winning one.

  • Win: Unbridled Beast 1/1
  • Show: Forwhomthebelltoll 30/1
