Indiana Grand Race Course Picks – Tuesday, October 20, 2020

| October 19, 2020 2:59 pm PDT

I selected an allowance race and two maiden races for today’s wagering predictions at Indiana Grand Race Course. The first two races were morning line favorites all the way, but race 9 gave us both an underdog and a longshot to cheer on to the finish line.

Incidentally, remember that you can always find the entire slate of Indian Grand races with a visit to one of our top online racebooks.

Read on for my Indiana Grand Race Course picks and tips.

Pick for Indiana Grand Race Course Race 5

This is an allowance race for Indiana-bred and -sired three-year-olds and upward running a distance of six furlongs for a purse of $37,000.

I’m sticking with the 7/2 morning line favorite here—Our Neighbor Boys, with Joshua Morales in the irons. Not only does this five-year-old gelding have the best record in the field—four money finishes in nine career starts—Morales has a seven-pound apprentice allowance to lighten the journey.

The longest odds in this race are 10/1, and I don’t see either of those horses finishing in the money, so let’s save it for later.

  • Win: Our Neighbor Boys 7/2

Pick for Indiana Grand Race Course Race 7

This is a maiden special weight race for Indiana-bred two-year-olds running a distance of 5-1/2 furlongs for a purse of $33,000.

I’m in agreement with the morning line in this race, as well, so I’m backing the 7/5 favorite, Private Union, with Deshawn Parker aboard. This colt moneyed one of his two career starts.

There are plenty of longshots in this 13-horse race (six at 20/1 or longer) and none of them is worth the risk of a show bet.

  • Win: Private Union 7/5

Picks for Indiana Grand Race Course Race 9

This is a maiden special weight race for two-year-old fillies running a distance of six furlongs for a purse of $31,000.

I’m going with the 5/1 underdog here—Mariah’s Princess, with Alex Canchari aboard. This filly failed to money in her single career start, pulling a fourth at Churchill Downs in September, but her times in recent workouts are good and her performance at Churchill Downs suggests she may do better in the shorter distances.

At 30/1, I like Khozys Crown, with Andres Ulloa in the irons, for a value show ticket. This filly moneyed one of her two career starts.

  • Win: Mariah’s Princess 5/1
  • Show: Khozys Crown 30/1
