Indiana Grand Race Course Picks – Wednesday, October 14, 2020

Indiana grand brings us a ten-race card of maiden, allowance, and claiming matches today. For spectators visiting the track, it’s going to be a windy day, with highs in the upper 70s, partly cloudy skies, and a slight chance of rain.
Read on for my Indiana Grand Race Course betting picks for the Wednesday.
Pick for Indiana Grand Race Course Race 3
This is an allowance race for Indiana-bred fillies and mares running a distance of 5-1/2 furlongs for a purse of $36,500.
I agree with the morning line, so I’m betting on the 8/5 favorite, Azurita, with Emmanuel Esquivel in the irons. This three-year-old filly finished in the money three of her four career starts, winning two.
With half of this eight-horse field running at 10/1 or longer, I’m a little surprised there’s not a single one worth the risk of a show bet.
- Win: Azurita 8/5
Pick for Indiana Grand Race Course Race 4
This is a maiden special weight race for Indiana-bred and -sired fillies and mares three years old and upward running a distance of 7-1/2 furlongs on turf for a purse of $35,000.
I’m backing the 3/1 morning line favorite in this race, as well—Little Maemi, with Fernando De La Cruz aboard. This three-year-old filly moneyed six of her 11 career starts, which sets her well ahead of her competition.
Of the two long-odds entries in this race, neither looks likely to finish in the money, so again, we save money, which is a form of winning, right?
- Win: Little Maemi 3/1
Picks for Indiana Grand Race Course Race 6
This is an allowance race for Indiana-bred three-year-olds and upward running a distance of one mile for a purse of $34,500.
I like the 6/1 underdog in this race, Bayou Cat, with Rodney Prescott in the irons. This three-year-old gelding moneyed five of his eight career starts, winning one.
At 15/1, I like Local Honey, with Isaiah Wiseman aboard, for a value show bet. This four-year-old gelding moneyed three of his four career starts, winning one. Plus, he’s got the advantage of Wiseman’s seven-pound apprentice allowance. You might want to consider an across-the-board wager here, but I’m just going with the show ticket.
- Win: Bayou Cat 6/1
- Show: Local Honey 15/1
