India vs. England – Fifth T20, March 20, 2021

| March 19, 2021 11:34 am PDT

India and England face off in their final T20 on Saturday, March 20, with the five-match series finely poised at 2-2.

Both sides have played some great – and not so great – cricket throughout the series. Winning the first and the third game, England hasn’t trailed so far, although India has fought back on two occasions.

If you’re planning to wager on what promises to be a thriller in Ahmedabad, keeping reading to see my India vs. England fifth T20 prediction and betting pick.

India vs. England Fifth T20 Odds

India to Win1.76
England to Win1.95

Having won the previous match, India (1.76) is the favorite to triumph in the series decider. But as you can see, the best online sports betting sites still believe that England (1.95) has a good chance.

With the series tied at 2-2, it is difficult to predict exactly what will happen on Saturday. The toss was giving us an indication, but India bucked that trend in the last game.

India vs. England Fifth T20 Preview

The team winning the toss won each of their opening three matches in this series, with the side batting second winning on every occasion. But last time out, India proved that you can lose the toss and still triumph, as England ended up falling eight runs short of the hosts’ 185/8.

Suryakumar Yadav (57), Shreyas Iyer (37), and Rishabh Pant (30) got the bulk of India’s runs, with Virat Kohli (1) maintaining his iffy form. After the break, Shardul Thakur (3/42) and Hardik Pandya (2/16) did the damage with the ball.

Pandya’s 2/16 was hugely impressive, especially when you consider that he is Team India’s fifth bowler. The all-rounder has also chipped in with important runs throughout the series, so England will be hoping to keep him quiet on Saturday.

Captain Kohli spent the last few overs on the sidelines and appeared to be limping at the end of the match, making him an injury doubt for Saturday’s showdown.

Still, even if Kohli is forced to miss the last game, the Men in Blue have enough quality in the squad to cope without him.

Jofra Archer (4/33), Sam Curran (1/16), and Mark Wood (1/25) all bowled well on Thursday, yet they were unable to prevent the hosts from posting the biggest total of the series so far.

Ben Stokes (46) and Jason Roy (40) gave England a glimmer of hope during the run chase. But at the end of the day, India’s disciplined bowling performance got the home side over the line.

Having posted scores of 49, 46, 9, and 40 in this series, Roy has often gotten his team off to a quick start. However, if he can hang around at the crease a bit longer and turn a start into a big score, England will almost certainly stand a better chance of winning.

The tourists’ bowling attack is very settled, although it does feel like England’s middle order isn’t quite clicking at the moment.

But with match-winners likes Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler in the line-up, England is always capable of getting the job done.

India vs. England Betting Pick for the Fifth T20

  • England to Win

Having followed this series closely, I’m expecting the fifth and final game to be a tight affair. However, I can see England outwitting India and claiming the series win on Saturday.

In my eyes, the tourists’ superior all-round game should be enough to get them over the line. India’s team is littered with stars, but it feels as though England’s side is slightly stronger in most departments.
