Iga Swiatek vs. Fiona Ferro – Round 3, 2021 Australian Open

| February 11, 2021 4:41 am PDT

Iga Swiatek is looking to continue her rise in the WTA rankings, and the first two rounds of the Australian Open 2021 have been impressive. The Czech teenager faces Fiona Ferro next, and the expectations are for another quick victory.

I share my thoughts on the clash in this Iga Swiatek vs. Fiona Ferro betting preview. The post features the latest odds and lines, my prediction, and a free betting pick.

Swiatek to win -409
Ferro to win +329
Swiatek (-5) -117
Ferro (+5) -103

Under 19.5 -105

The best sports gambling apps don’t have any doubts about the favorite in this match, as you can see from their latest Iga Swiatek vs. Fiona Ferro odds. The Czech prodigy is expected to win comfortably, and I’m inclined to agree with that evaluation.

Iga Swiatek Current Form

I’m still stunned by how good Iga Swiatek was in the French Open 2020, and I can’t wait to see if she can stay consistent this year. The first two matches in the Australian Open 2021 show that she’s hungry for more at the highest level.

Swiatek beat Arantxa Rus and Camila Giorgi without breaking a sweat. I caught the highlights of the second clash, and the favorite looked confident. Her on-court interview after the match was interesting too, and it seems like she is in her happy place.

That’s bad news for everyone else because we already saw how strong Swiatek is at her best. All signs suggest that she is ready for another deep run, so watch out for her.

Fiona Ferro Current Form

I can’t say I have watched many Fiona Ferro matches so far, but she had a solid run in the 2020 French Open. She’s mostly a clay-court specialist with some decent results on hard, but no major success at the highest level.

It’s the first time Ferro is in the third round of the Australian Open, and her performance so far has been decent. She overcame Katerina Siniakova in a tough opener before beating Elena Rybakina.

Eliminating a top 20 player is usually a good sign, but Rybakina has always struggled in Grand Slams, so I wouldn’t read too much into it.

Swiatek is a completely different animal, and I’m not sure Fiona Ferro can cope with her. You have to put such an opponent under constant pressure to have a chance, and I don’t think that the French athlete has the required weapons in her arsenal.

Swiatek vs. Ferro Pick

I don’t see how Ferro could put up a fight against the flying Swiatek. The Czech sensation should win this one with ease and cover the -5 handicap rather comfortably. The price of -117 is high enough for me to back the favorite in this clash.
