Hobart Hurricanes vs. Perth Scorchers – Big Bash League, January 22, 2021
The Hurricanes secured a much-needed win over the Thunder last time out, but they face a tough test against the in-form Scorchers on Friday, January 22.
Adam Voges’ men have won six of their last seven games, although they only find themselves one point ahead of the Tasmanians in the congested BBL 10 standings.

Hobart Hurricanes vs. Perth Scorchers Odds
It is difficult to argue with 10bet’s assessment of this matchup. The Hurricanes (2.10) may have returned to winning ways on Monday, but the Scorchers (1.64) have been almost unstoppable lately.
Let’s not forget that the Western Australians cruised to a nine-wicket victory over Hobart just last week, reaching their target with 22 balls to spare.
Hobart Hurricanes vs. Perth Scorchers Preview
It’s safe to say that the Hurricanes will be hoping to avoid a repeat of their previous meeting with the Scorchers when the two sides clash at Marvel Stadium on Friday.
Perth completely humiliated the Tasmanians last time around, despite Darcy Short (54) and Tim David (31*) doing their best to get their side to a respectable total. In fact, that defeat extended the Canes’ losing streak to three games.
Adam Griffith’s men were not in a good place last week, but they have since turned things around with an impressive victory over the Thunder.
Chasing a sizeable target of 177/5, Ben McDermott fell just four runs short of a century as he set about punishing the Thunder’s bowling attack. Dawid Malan (42) and Peter Handscombe (21*) eventually got the Canes over the line with two overs to spare.
The Tasmanians showed everyone what they are capable of on Monday, but they know exactly what to expect from the Scorchers.
The Scorchers only needed three batsmen to beat the Hurricanes last week. English openers Jason Roy (74*) and Liam Livingstone (54) did the bulk of the work before Josh Inglis (7*) came in to finish the job.
The Western Australians suffered a defeat to the Sixers in their next game, although it didn’t take them long to return to winning ways.
Colin Munro smashed 82 off 54 as Voges’ side thrashed the Heat by 59 runs on Tuesday. The New Zealand international has hit four half-centuries in his last five appearances and now sits third in the run-scoring charts.
Meanwhile, Jhye Richardson moved three wickets clear at the top of the wicket-taking charts after taking 2/10 last time out. The 24-year-old has picked up 21 wickets this season, boasting an economy rate of 6.29.
With Fawad Ahmed and Andrew Tye continuing to shine, the Scorchers are looking seriously strong in every department.
Hobart Hurricanes vs. Perth Scorchers Prediction and Pick
Perth Scorchers to Win1.64
The Hurricanes will be confident after ending their losing streak with a decent victory over the Thunder. However, the Scorchers are in seemingly unstoppable form right now.
The manner with which Voges’ men brushed aside the Canes was hugely impressive last week. I can see the Tasmanians putting up more of a fight this time around, but the Scorchers should still be too strong.
