We’ve reached the most exciting phase of the PGL Major Stockholm 2021. The top eight teams enter the New Champions Stage to determine who’s the best in CSGO right now.

The quarterfinals are on Thursday and the first one features Heroic and Virtus.pro. Both sides had a bumpy road so far, but they will be hoping to reach the Last 4.

The Heroic vs. Virtus.pro odds I used for my preview are available at SportsBetting.ag. The bookmaker obviously doesn’t see a clear favorite here and I’m inclined to agree with such an assessment. Both teams have a chance of progressing, so let’s try to figure out the best bet here.

I must admit that I didn’t expect to see Heroic at this point after the team looked very shaky in the New Challengers Stage of the PGL Major Stockholm 2021.

The squad won its first two matches but two defeats against Copenhagen Flames and Entropiq followed. Heroic had to face Movistar Riders in a decider and won convincingly.

The Legends stage was way more comfortable for Heroic. The team lost a relatively close clash against the big favorites from Na’Vi and then proceeded to win three matches in a row to qualify for the Playoffs.

The overall sensation is that Heroic is getting stronger with every match and the team might find the form that led to the BLAST Premier: Fall Showdown 2021 title soon.

The year as a whole has been great for the organization, despite some changes in personnel, so I think the potential for another strong performance is there.

Most good moments of Virtus.pro in 2021 came in the early months of the year. The team has struggled to stay consistent recently and we saw that clearly in the PGL Stockholm Major New Legends Stage.

The team then had to go through two extremely close matches against MOUZ and FaZe Clan. The second one featured three maps that could’ve gone either way, but VP came back to win after losing the opening one.

The team showed nerves of steel to progress to the Playoffs but the execution has been far from clean up to this point. Virtus.pro has to step up in the next stage to have a chance for something special in Sweden.

The odds of the top CSGO betting sites suggest that Heroic is a slight favorite in this one and I fully understand why. The team has been better as a whole, but I like Virtus.pro’s resilience so far.
