Hapoel Beer-Sheva vs. Bayer Leverkusen – Europa League, November 5, 2020
With each team sitting on three points as we approach Matchday 3 of the 2020/21 UEFA Europa League, it’s safe to say that Group C is finely poised.
Hapoel Beer-Sheva and Bayer Leverkusen occupy the top two places due to their superior goal difference, and the two sides meet in Israel on Thursday, November 5.

Hapoel Beer-Sheva vs. Bayer Leverkusen Odds
I can’t say I’m surprised to see Bayer Leverkusen (1.50) as the clear favorite to win on Thursday. Having said that, I was expecting the odds gaps to be slightly larger for this matchup.
Beer-Sheva is a relative novice on the European Stage and has not started the season too brightly, while Leverkusen has generally featured in the Champions League in recent years.
Hapoel Beer-Sheva vs. Bayer Leverkusen Preview
Beer-Sheva appeared to be heading for a draw against Slavia Prague on Matchday 1. In fact, head coach Yossi Abukasis probably would have been happy to pick up a point on the opening day of the tournament. But his side eventually ended up coming away with all three points.
With the scoreline locked at 1-1, Elton Acolatse netted the winning goal on 86 minutes before adding another before the final whistle.
However, Beer-Sheva was brought back down to earth by Lille last week. Les Dogues gave the Israelis very few chances on Matchday 2, and Abukasis’ men only managed to register a couple of shots on target. Still, losing 1-0 in Lille is nothing to be ashamed of.
Hapoel has caught the eye in the Europa League, but the club has failed to get their domestic campaign off the ground. One win in their opening four games has left Beer-Sheva languishing in eighth place in the Israeli Premier League.
A 6-2 victory over Lille on Matchday 1 must have left Peter Bosz’s men thinking they would cruise through the Europa League group stage. Leverkusen flexed their muscles on the opening day, although the good times didn’t last long.
A trip to Slavia Prague was never going to be easy, but when Karim Bellarabi was sent off after just 22 minutes last week, Bayer failed to recover and ultimately suffered a 1-0 defeat in Czechia.
On a brighter note, Leverkusen is the only unbeaten team left in the Bundesliga this season. Considering that Bosz’s men have to compete with the likes of Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, that is a pretty impressive statistic.
Following three straight domestic victories, Bayer will surely be confident of returning to winning ways in the Europa League.
Hapoel Beer-Sheva vs. Bayer Leverkusen Betting Pick
Bayer Leverkusen to Win1.50
When these two sides meet in Germany for the reverse fixture at the end of the month, the price for the Leverkusen win will almost certainly be far lower than 1.50. But with the Germans playing away from home on Thursday, the odds for the Bayer win are definitely worth taking advantage of.
Abukasis’ men have given a good account of themselves in the Europa League so far, but I’m confident that Leverkusen’s superiority will shine through on this occasion.
