Gwangju vs. Sangju Sangmu – K League 1, October 25, 2020
It has been a good season for both Gwangju and Sangju Sangmu and with two games to go, both will be looking for a few more points to round off their campaigns.
There is nothing really riding on this fixture but it could be an entertaining game between two teams that have fought well this year.
Gwangju vs. Sangju Sangmu Odds
This game is very closely priced but I’m not sure if Gwangju’s form since the split can really justify such confidence. Sangju Sangmu has been far more consistent throughout the season and I think the away win odds look the most attractive here.
Gwangju vs. Sangju Sangmu Preview
Gwangju has now lost all three of its Championship group games since the split but manager Park Jin-sub will not be worrying too much about that after guiding his team to the top six immediately after winning promotion from K League 2 last year. Everything else is simply a bonus at the moment.
The Yellows were never in the game against Jeonbuk last week, as it eventually lost 4-1 to the title-chasing side. Gwangju’s defensive record hadn’t actually been too bad up until the last few games, but fixtures against the very best teams at this stage of the season have taken their toll.
Sangju Sangmu might be able to take advantage of Gwangju’s lack of urgency this weekend, as manager Kim Tae-wan has been able to keep his team’s discipline, even with the inevitable turnaround in players throughout the season. It is hardly surprising that the military team will probably be better organized on Sunday.
It was the last ever game in Sangju last weekend as the army side beat local rivals Daegu 2-1 to claim fourth spot. There will be two more road games before the team moves to Gimcheon next season and starts off again in K League 2. It would not be a huge surprise if Sangju Sangmu won both of them the way it has played this season.
Gwangju vs. Sangju Sangmu Betting Pick
Sangju Sangmu to Win+163
Gwangju is now playing as though the hard work has already been done in qualifying for the Championship group at the split. In all honesty, it probably has – just a year after coming up from the second tier. That’s why this game looks like a good opportunity for Sangju Sangmu to continue its good form this year and pick up another three points away from home.
